Yes, I could have posted this on the food board, but I'm just asking about wait times on a Sunday. I'm thinking of going between 12 and 1 today. I haven't been in years. How's the wait? Anyone been recently on a Sunday?

Thanks!

At worst 30 minutes. It's a large dining room. Most of the time we go straight to a table.

There could be no wait and it wouldn’t be worth it.

Everytime I've been it’s been mediocre.

The thin fried catfish is always good when we’ve gone over the last few years, and I’ve eaten there going back a long time.

Certainly entitled to your opinion. The thin fried catfish is good. Of course it's full of batter but that's their trademark and what makes it tasty. We've enjoyed the fried shrimp and oysters. Wife and I look forward to a boat cruise across Maurepas for mid afternoon lunch.

Get ready for poor service & subpar food. Used to be one of our favorite spots to make a weekend drive to for a nice meal out on the deck overlooking the water. We no longer go to Middendorfs after being disappointed the last couple times.

The outside area is available if you can’t get inside quick enough

Went yesterday for lunch, no wait and service was outstanding. Food was on par with what it's been the last couple of years.

We go a few times a year as my parents really like it. Never had bad service.
The thin fried catfish went too for with being 90% batter about five years ago. I can’t order it anymore.

As for the OPs question, unless it’s a holiday or something, I wouldn’t expect that the wait will be long. Most likely no wait at all.

This is the correct answer. Place knows how to turn and burn tables like nowhere else really.

I know they have a good size dining area inside and the deck outside, but I'm not sure how many folks are wanting to eat out on the deck when it's pushing 90 degrees in the afternoons this time of year.

Even when they are crowded I can't remember ever waiting more than 20 minutes or so for a table. That is a table for 2-4, not a large party needing multiple tables.

Sunday is the busiest day but the wait is nowhere near what it used to be before they expanded. When I was a kid the wait would be hours after church

As the others said, 30 mins max. Well worth it. And for the others complaining about service, I can’t remember it ever being anything other than prompt and friendly. A little harried maybe but never rude or lax

We arrived at 1:30 and we're told 25-30 minutes. We waited 9 mins! We ordered within 10 mins and received our food in about the amount of time.

We had the thin fish and shrimp platter and the stuffed shrimp. The fish was perfect, the fried shrimp were good/not great, and the stuffed shrimp were fantastic! The hushpuppies, however, were off.

Our service was fast and friendly.

First time in years, but we'll be back again soon-ish!

I agree with you, love the food and service is always excellent. People on this board love to crap on Middendorf's for some reason.

Indy...these days I seem to always stop there after visiting family in Independence/BR and friends in Hammond on way to NOLA. A nice snack, the large thin fried to go, for a couple or 3 as you traverse 55 south then across the spillway. A couple coldies helps as well.

Not going to crap on them, and I still like to go every once in a while because it’s different, but they have less seasoning and spices on their catfish than most people put on their scrambled eggs.

MUCH better seafood dishes to had at B&J Seafood in Hammond.

We used to go to Middendorf's a lot until we found better food closer to home. If we are out on the boat, we'll stop by for appetizers every now and then.
