Mayo makes me gag. Duke's, Blue Plate, Heilman's, doesn't matter...it's all awful. A knife from a subshop that has a bit of residual mayo that makes it onto my sandwich will ruin the sandwich for me.

MAKE HOMEMADE MAYO. It's completely different than the store bought garbage. Tastes so much better, a more palatable texture, and is both incredibly easy to make and very amenable to recipe additions like hot sauce, horseradish, chipotles in adobo, etc.

Takes 5 minutes to make.

Grab an immersion blender with a whisk attachment, a 4 cup measuring cup or other mixing vessel.

2 egg yolks
4tsp lemon juice
2tsp dijon mustard (or spicy brown, whatever you like)
couple pinches of salt
splash of cold water

Blend this stuff until well mixed and it becomes emulsified.

Grab a cup and a half of oil. Canola and other neutral oils are good, olive oil if you want a bit of bitterness.

Slowly drizzle in your oil while continuously whisking the mix until all the oil is well emulsified and the mayo takes on the texture you prefer.

At this point, you can eat it as is or go ahead and mix in whatever ingredients you'd like.

I love this stuff but hate "mayo". Definitely worth trying if you're in the same boat.

Some mayos are pretty gross, and I understand why some people find it disgusting.

But a burger or poboy dressed with mayo, lettuce, and tomato is damn delicious IMO.

My mom made some mayo when I was a kid and I found it to be disgusting.

I'll stick to Kraft or Hellmann's

I can not help but to lick the remnants off the knife after spreading mayo. It's fricking delicious and the Toof's of the world need to be reprogrammed

Every time I suggest making homemade mayo with an immersion blender, it's not well received around here.

Its so easy and tastes darn good, but people hate on it.

I find it best to make homemade mayo when creating sauces that are mayo based.

It is easy to make and I do appreciate the taste, but I tend to just reach for the commercially prepared stuff. Is there an emoji for lazy arse bitch?

I spread mayo on saltines as a LNS. My mom did it when I was little and I gagged at the though, but when I got older it is damn good. To me at least

I agree for day to day use.

But if you're going to the trouble of making a sauce from scratch, I think it's worth it for something like chicken salad, ranch dressing, remoulade, etc.

What are the ingredients found in Duke's Mayonnaise?
Soybean oil, eggs, water, distilled and cider vinegar, salt, oleoresin paprika, natural flavors, calcium disodium EDTA added to protect flavor.

I'm shocked that you love your soy. Absolutely shocked.

I like Mayo and use it for most of sandwiches and in recipes.

But I never lick a Mayo knife or spoon clean like I do with all other condiments.
