my wife had one from her single life, we never use it now, not sure where it even is.

It did make a nice margarita from what I can remember though

I love mine and use it for more than just frozen drinks.

This is a tough decision for me. Trying to think of something else to buy this but can't come up with much. I appreciate every bodies feedback though.

I started thinking she might like this machine because she loves frozen daiquiris and margaritas and drinks a smoothie every morning for breakfast.

Thought she might like the machine since it's supposed to shave the ice rather then crush it. However she won't like it if it's a pain in the butt to clean.

Why is it shocking that I said more women prefer frozen margaritas?
LINK

I'm sure there are many other studies that show that women drink wine, champagne and prefer frozen margaritas as their favorite overall drink. Buy here is just one.

Weird. And gross I can't stand frozen drinks.

It's not "shocking". I just thought it was weird to say "How many women like on the rocks?" because at least among women I knew, about half like them on the rocks. In fact, most women I know who prefer frozen drinks are really just women who don't like to drink that much in general.

Not surprised if more like frozen, but you implied almost all prefer it.

We have one and use it a good bit. I don't see why people are saying it sucks, unless I have an exception to the rule. I have made every kind of daiquiri and margarita you can name in ours and the ice is always smooth. I also used it to make protein/fruit smoothies a bunch. It shaves the ice and then blends it instead of just blending, which makes the ice smooth.

For the price you are pretty close to a Vitamix which can do more than just make margaritas

Take this advice, you won't be sorry. This machine does it all !!!! Oh, and you don't want to even try cleaning that damn Margaritaville machine.

We had that little toy too, gave it and the blender away. Nothing makes frozen drinks/smoothies like a Vitamix.

What's hard about cleaning a blender? I'm still confused, was there something added to the margaritaville machine in the last 3 years that prevents it from being a blender that shaves the ice prior to...... blending??

It holds ice in a bin and shaves it into a good quality blender. What about that makes it hard to clean, so much lower than a blender that doesn't shave ice beforehand and how can it possibly leave chunks?? Its shaved ice?

Is it a necessary item? No.. But I find that it does a great job for its intended purpose.

We had one of the first models that came out. It was bulky, ice chute would get mix on it from blender splash, and took time to 'turn it around' for another flavor. The Vitamix makes unbelievable ice and requires about a 20 second turnaround. The Margaritaville machine is useful for one thing while the Vitamix is a multitasker that's worth every penny.

No it's the same. Mine is easy to clean and makes excellent margaritas.

Not do derail this thread, but my neighbor recently purchased a machine that uses frozen bananas and you put the banana in the machine along with some other fruit such as strawberries and the end result is that it comes out like soft serve ice cream.

I have the 500 Bahamas model and love it. $$$ is nowhere near the same. Vitamix is $380+. Margaritaville is $185. I use mine 2-3 times a week, and everyone loves the drinks. Like said before, no Chunks of ice as long as the shaving blade is on tight. Great machine, worth the money, and easy to clean.
