Went for a second time today for lunch. Ordered something different, of course. Had the crab noodle soup and a side of chinese sausage per my barber's recommendation.
The sausage was tender and had a really nice flavor, but was a little oily for my taste. Crab soup was delicious. Perfect meal for a rainy day. :coco2:
Only complaint was the bar stool I sat on. Was quite uncomfortable.
Girls working today's shift were all asian and very friendly and prompt. Apparently they give the good-looking white broads the weekday shifts.

What is that in the crab soup? Tofu? Croutons?

I finally stopped by today and will definitely be returning. We walked in around 2:30 and there was still a pretty good crowd inside and out.
They must have scrapped the system of ordering and taking a number because the girl at the counter told us to sit wherever we'd like. A waiter came to take our drink orders within a few seconds of us sitting down (no good looking waitresses today, all guys) and asked if we had any questions about the menu.
I have only eaten Vietnamese about 5 times in my life so I can't draw many comparisons. The Pho filet mignon had a very flavorful broth and the meat was tender and juicy. I was very pleased with the portion for $9.50 (though I'm told this is slightly high for pho). I had half of a grilled pork Bahn Mi, which was my favorite part of the meal. The bread was lightly buttered with very fresh vegetables and the pork was seasoned and cooked perfectly. I tried a piece of oxtail from my friend's pho and the flavor didn't really jump out at me but I didn't try the broth so I'll have to give the Pho oxtail a try next time.
Overall, the service and food were great at an unbeatable price. This is definitely going to be on my list of regular lunch spots.

I've only been to the place once and had no wait at all. This was a Friday about 11 and they were not using the order at the counter iPad model I've heard about here many times. Not a bad place but they need to show more love with the meat and even the noodles in the pho. I'm still gonna go back and try something different.

I dont get those chairs. How can they not see how horribly uncomfortable those chairs are?
i cringe everytime someone posts a picture of those things and yes, they will actually keep me from trying this place.

So i'm in Magasin for my third time. But now it's no more counter service. I don't always want a sit down lunch add there is a twenty percent premium to do a sit down...
Then off course, i'm alone, so i'm in those u uncomfortable bar stools. Then they stopped serving the BBQ pork Bun and Banh Mi.
So i've been here fifteen minutes already, and was given a sprite instead of a coke. I corrected my server, and still don't have a drink. So that's not good.
Okay caned coke just came, lol...
Well I just got a Pork Bun (vermicelli).
Just thinking that there are other places in town that maker great food, without the parking hassles and higher prices.
It's just the only Vietnamese I know of uptown and I'm working on St Charles today.
I need to get back to trying new places , lol.

What about that joint next to Igors on St. Charles? Anyone know anything about it? Cafe Viet, or something like that?

I enjoyed it thoroughly. Banh mi was fantastic and pho was too. Great prices. My only complaint was that I had no idea how to 'politely' eat the oxtail so I looked like a fool trying to cut it with the serving spoon, a chopstick, and a butter knife

There's also a place called Eat Well. Pho is 3 or 4 dollars cheaper and it won't disappoint. Banh Mi there is also very good.
