It’s good and you will enjoy it but for the price I’d probably go a different route

I love the dalmore cigar malt and dalmore 18 year. Probably looking more in the $175-$190 range for those

I also really like the peaty smoke taste. The lagavulin 16 year, the talisker distillers edition, and balvenie peat week are great. Laphroaig 10 is a decent budget option for that smoke taste

For a casual sipping scotch that won’t break the bank. I like the aberlour 12

Balvenie, Lagavulin or Ardbeg, and Oban are my favorite three, depending on my mood.
Agreed. Lagavulin 16 is my all time favorite

I have not seen anyone mention Glenlivet, is there a particular reason? Right when started getting into to Scotch I cut back on alchohol all together and since dont drink liquor as much. However winter is when beer takes a back seat to liquor.

I normally drink bourbon, my favorite daily being Blantons. When I was dabbling in scotch I started with Glenlivet due to it being less peaty than most others.

Any other good beginner Scotches I should look into?

I have a tough time with scotch. I’m not a big fan of the peat flavor. That being said, I like the balvenie Caribbean cask. I tried an 18 year rare glenmorange that was pretty good. “Good” scotch is typically so expensive and it’s love/hate for me, I just don’t buy any because I don’t want drop $100 on something I may hate.

I prefer bourbon, but to each his own.

The Glenlivet 15 year is a standard go to for me for the price point. One of few aged in French Oak casks. Most when aged in European oak have some French oak influences but not all. Really fair price point.

My current favorite is the Balvenie Carribean cask.

Also just bought a Benriach peated that is pretty good, similar to Lagavulin.

Scotch is without a doubt an acquired taste. I think the Glenlivet 12 is one of the better starters for those trying to get into scotch. It’s pretty smooth and doesn’t have any real strong flavors as far as scotch goes. Once you start drinking it and liking it is when you start wanting the expensive stuff.

Since the frick WHEN does spelling correctly matter to you?

Im willing to bet that as you typed that, you laughed your arse off thinking you really pulled a funny huh? Boy this dumbass doesn't even know how to spell his name!
Unfortunately for you, I actually DO know how to spell my name. Did you ever in all your years think that it would be possible that someone with the name John could have a last name that starts with N? I know that soccer board guys typically only think about sucking dick, but this really seemed like a pretty easy thing to figure out. Do better next time buddy.
