Lunch Spots in/around Shreveport? ETA: Thanks

Supposed to meet some family soon. May be helpful if in proximity to a museum/attraction. Not familiar with the city at all.

I'd probably do Superior Grill or Ki Mexico. Both are Mexican restaurants but they're really good.. Herby K's is another fun local spot, but it's not in a great location.

Which museum/attraction? Shreveport/Bossier is pretty spread out. Ki Mexico, Superior Grill (not Steakhouse), Oyster Bar are pretty central. Nothing wrong with the Steakhouse, but I’m not 100% sure they serve lunch on weekends.
Noble Savage, Blind Tiger & Abby Singer’s are all downtown. Chef Niema at Abby Singer’s has been on Beat Bobby Flay & Chopped- she does a Louisiana/African mashup that’s pretty great. Last time I was there, service was a little slow, so keep that in mind if you’re on a schedule.

Shreveport water is so bad that I eat out only in Bossier. Strawn’s, Shane’s, Flying Heart, L’Italiano are some good places to go. 2John’s for steaks, but not a cheap lunch.

I've always been a fan of Blind Tiger downtown. Some of the most perfectly fried catfish around the state.

I would love to go there more, but I did not like the few things that I have ordered there. Thanks for the tip. I will try it again.

You’re not wrong that other dishes are underwhelming. For example, I would not recommend their gumbo or red beans & rice to anyone.
However, they do two things excellent, in my opinion. Fried catfish and Bloody Marys.

They have a really good burger as well as appetizers - meat pies, boudin balls, fried mushrooms.

Blind Tiger won the day. Enjoyed the experience. Thanks for the rec. Fried catfish was excellent as was my cup of etouffee. Would gladly go back.
Ok, as someone noted above, the water was bad. Got a cup of Hotel 2 Oscar to go and had to pour it out. What's up with Shreveport's water?

Ki Mexico or Marilynns place in Shreveport. Both are awesome and are walking distance within each other. Or Seventh Tap Eastbank has the best burger in town.

Moved out to Louisiana Downs last year. It’s outta the way but the food is still great. I guess they finally got tired of the crack motel facade.

(Lucky) Palace Cafe was the best. Heard about it on here, otherwise I would have never visited it. Glad to hear that it is still open and moved out of the dump...

KiMexico is incredible & probably the best “Mexican” restaurant in the state. El Cabo Verde in Provenance is fantastic as well, but more Tex Mex

Shreveport is quite limited. Frank’s, for a short while in 2021 and 2022, had the state’s best pizza. The pizza is still good, but better yet are their salads. Be sure to get them with anchovies. We tried Lucky Palace and it was an incredible disappointment. Was it an off night? I thought 5 Happiness infinitely better.
Although it will not be a popular pick, I think the best place to eat in Shreveport is a strip mall hole in the wall in the middle of nowhere called Johnny’s Catfish. I am not ordinarily a man who would call a catfish shack the finest restaurant in a city, and Mother certainly did not raise me to confuse a plate of fried catfish, shrimp, and oysters with haute cuisine, but Shreveport is not New Orleans and one must judge a place by the civilization available to it. What they fry they fry properly, and in a city like Shreveport there is something almost aristocratic about knowing one’s limitations and executing them without error.
