I have to spend Saturdayday at Lafreniere park and have a couple of hour break for lunch. Coming in from out of town... what's a good option?

Sandros Tattatoria is not far away on Veterans. Great little Italian place

What are you in the mood for? Metairie is packed with options. Let's narrow it down a bit.

Good idea.
I'll have my kid with me for an all day soccer event. 2 hour break for lunch. He'll need something easy and quick (we're talking pre-teen here -- he'll want to go to a Chik-Fila), but I prefer to enjoy a decent meal when I travel.
So, nothing fancy. Kid's probably not going to want a bowl of Pho or plate of etouffee. I'm happy with a good Po'boy and some oysters.
Also, any places nearby sell decent boudin. Need to restock my freezer.

If that is what kind of place I agree with Comeback Inn
And give up on the boudin idea. Not really any that are great in the area

Come Back Inn
It looks like it moved from Williams Blvd.?
I hope they change things up because the last time I was there I walked out and said they need to change the name to "Come "on my back" inn". It was awful and rotten service.
