Trying a lobster roll tonight fir the first time. Should I order hot with butter or cold with mayo based sauce?

I've only had them cold and really enjoy them.

Hot. 100%.
They're both good, but a hot butter lobster roll is easily superior IMO.

This is the only correct answer!
We will be there tonight as well. Also, they are super easy to do at home. You only need three ingredients and I’m starting to see the top cut buns at the stores here.

I’m nervous to do them at home because of the cost of the lobsters relative to my lack of experience cooking them. That’s why I tend to stick with chicken, pork roasts, and beef shoulder roasts just because it’s what I am used to cooking, and know I won’t screw up.
If you’re there tonight, say hey. I’ll be there with my Aussie dog.

(Thumbs up)
We just pick them up at Joe Patty’s already steamed and fix them for a crowd at the beach.
I was up in Kennebunkport a couple years ago and stopped by the Clam Shack. Ridiculous line of folks and my first lobster roll (although I think it was on a Kaiser roll). People all around me ordering $100+ of food that gets served on cafeteria trays and paper boats. ??

I generally order mine based off the season. ie summer cold / winter warm

If you've ever been to The Canteen in Provincetown, you know hot is the way to go.

I mean, that’s just the vibe of coastal Maine. Lobster and lobster rolls aren’t considered fine dining typically. There’s a limited window of beautiful outdoor weather, so people want to sit outside on a park bench and enjoy a lobster roll.

No, I get it. I wasn’t knocking it. I enjoyed three in Maine and around 10 on a trip to cape cod.

Ehh...step out and give it a shot. At good places like HEB, you can get the lobster at a fraction of the cost from what you’d pay at a restaurant.
Scallops. Maybe the most overpriced restaurant item other than booze. I didn’t have much experience cooking them at first, but when comparing the pricing, figured it was worth a shot to learn. Never order them at restaurants now.
Lost post short: Don’t be afraid to experiement and give it a shot. If you know your way around the kitchen/stove/pot...you’ll get it by your second try.

One of those foods I just don't get. They are bland and boring. And I've tried them at several different places in Mass and Maine and it just doesn't do it for me.

Hot with butter is absolutely the best way (Connecticut style)

Hot with butter x 1000000000000

My bad. I was reading that in a "can you believe how much money people were paying to eat off of cafeteria trays" way, so I was just trying to give context as to why.

Wouldn't turn down either, but Hot is definitely the way to go.

Where are you getting lobster rolls from?
