Just saw this on WVUE. They are looking for a new location to be opened later.

Get your Semolina's Cookbook HERE.

Edited to say it might not be for forever.

I remember getting the shrimp roban every time I hit the one on Metairie Rd.

I figured at some point this would happen. Seemed like they were keeping it around for sentimental value. It was never crowded at all last few years, and I'm guessing losing mall/movie traffic was the last straw.

I'm not hopeful they re-open somewhere else. They have put all their efforts into Zea. Maybe Zea will pick up a few items from the Semolina menu.

Definetly sad to see this. Their pasta jambalaya and cajun roban (off menu) were outstanding, as was their huge portions of chicken parm. My oldest kid always liked the mac and cheese "cake".

Semolina’s was still good. Just ate there 2 weeks ago. Kinda liked it better than Olive Garden and Carrabba’s.

It's in the crawfish roban recipe in the middle of the left column of ingredients. I had to look for it, myself.

Late 80s, when it was in a strip mall somewhere in Covington area? I can’t recall the exact location, but it had a semi open kitchen and lots of booths, with the spaghetti strainer light fixtures. Was fun, felt fresh on the local dining scene. Had enough variety to keep everyone in a group happy. A decade after that, I used to cater tons of meetings with their half pans of pasta and salads, never had any complaints.

Hopefully, they’ll retool the menu a bit—it was way too carb & dairy heavy for contemporary tastes.

It was in Tyler Square on the corner of 21st and Tyler St. It was the first ever location. Always great with fresh ingredients. I was a sucker for their Pad Thai as well as the mac and Cheese cake.
