Just read on the business report that La Crepe Nanou is opening a restaurant here by the Mall of La. I am excited to see how it will turn out.

Where at by the mall? I would certainly visit? Cant think of where there is an already open building that they would locate to without building.

The Business Report says 3000 sq ft behind Menchies in the open air part. I don't know if that would be in the parking lot area or what. But it says they will be open for 3 meals a day.

La Crepe Nanou, a New Orleans-based French bistro, is set to open a location at the Mall of Louisiana by Oct. 1. The 3,000-square-foot restaurant will be in the mall's open-air Boulevard lifestyle center, behind Menchie's Frozen Yogurt. Todd Denton, the mall's general manager, says the plan is for La Crepe Nanou to be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. "It will be nice to get them in here," he says. La Crepe Nanou has been open in uptown New Orleans since 1983, serving French bistro dishes, such as steamed mussels and escargots, along with sweet and savory crepes. Doyle Restaurant Group, which franchised The Wine Loft, is franchising locations of La Crepe Nanou. The mall location is set to open a month after Pluckers Wing Bar opens in the former Bennigan's site.

Glassman, as a hardcore Uptowner, if that doesn't strike fear into the depths of your soul, I don't know what will.

As long as they don't frick with the original it doesn't bother me.

The odds of that 0.0% my friend.

Of them fricking with it or not fricking with it? I'm confused.

I live 100 ft. from the original and have only been once. The atmosphere of the place is pretty cool, the food is just ok in my opinion. Of course I am no food expert, maybe I am just not much into traditional French cuisine.

fricking with it. I mean I will give them the benefit of the doubt until proven incorrect, but its a franchise owned by a franchising company (that owns Wine Loft). They're not in it to bring good food to the people of greater Baton Rouge, they're in it to maximize profit. Not that's there's anything wrong with that.
eta: So yes my last post was backwards, my bad brah. See "50 greatest american beer" thread post for explanation.

I wasn't trying to nit pick, I just wanted to make sure I was clear on your assertion. I hope it's a correct one.

BR greenhorn location selection imho.
That mallwalk isn't exactly their target demographic, despite plenty of Apple Store, Jos A Bank, L'Occitane, etc..shoppers. They're not exactly bottling tourists between Paris and Bally in Vegas ala La Creperie.
Would not the old Chalet Brandt/ABE/LaLou Jefferson digs, or somewhere along Esplanade Blvd, between the Jefferson and Perkins crowds, near Marriott and the hotel/extended stay strip, be a more ideal spot?
Or will the mall's volume, new Bluebonnet hotel, and BR's assorted Euro-poseurs willing to flock wherever need be to eat a crepe Parisian cafe style(see and be seen in the mallwalk), be the winning formula?

So to get good restaurants BR has to franchise NOLA restaurants?

sure beats driving down there.
FWIW, I subscribe to the idea that BR residents support NOLA restaurants more than NOLA residents want to admit.
