Anybody have any recommendations for an electric knife sharpener that won't break the bank?

That’s what I got and like it. I got it off of woot.com because someone on here posted about a great deal.

I've used almost every sharpener on the market. Blocks, stones, steels, electric, handheld ...

This has worked better than every single one. It's easy and brings the edge back to factory sharpness. Just let the stone soak in water for 5 minutes and go at it using the recommended method in the video.

Send your knives out to be sharpened professionally every few years and keep one of these at home.

The 1520 model offers both 15 and 20 deg edges for all kinds of knives. I bought one on ebay and it does a good job on kitchen knives. Might not do as well on thicker bladed outdoor style knives

This. Once you get accustomed to using water stones, you'll never go back to anything else.

It's almost a zen-like experience for me when I sharpen my knives. Works great for my Henkel German knives, but it's really the only option for Japanese steel.
