I do know you couldn't tell the difference between duck and chicken in a gumbo which shows you know dick about food.
i knew and have known about rumors of it being chicken for five years. doesn't change it for me.

You just praised the Italian dressing at the chimes.
Dude. You need to get over yourself.
A burger is a good burger if it's done as well as a burger can be done. A dressing is a good dressing if it's done as well as a dressing can be done. Same with fried chicken. Or a donut. Or bread pudding or anything else.

I stand by my review 100%.
sure. stand by your terrible review 100%.

Know to never pay attention to your reviews since the chimes is your top place you have eaten at.
You really need to learn to read. The chimes isn't the top place i've eaten at. I just think that it's not impossible, nor would i fault someone for saying it was the best OVERALL restaurant in baton rouge. And that includes not just food, but atmosphere, location, and a bunch of other factors (not the least of which might be me not having to sit next to some idiot who's hemming and hawing over how exquisite his rudimentary hollandaise sauce on top of his fish is.)
What's better AMAZING FRIED CHICKEN or AMAZING foie gras?
How do you tell? Does Anthony Bourdain only eat french food?
The Chimes hits exactly what it's supposed to be. It says this is what we are and this is what we do. And I think it does that as well as any restaurant or better than any restaurant in BR.

Honestly, I had the duck and sausage gumbo yesterday from the Chimes and it's a C- at best. There are about 1 million better gumbo's....my wife's tops the list but that's besides the point.

gumbo is such a weird taste thing. everybody just reverts back to the gumbo they're used to tasting.

I agree. There may be some hole in the wall BBQ that I've never had but in terms of all BBQ, pulled pork, ribs etc., I would think Voodoo would be ebst which is really sad. I mean a chain place comes in here and is the best.

isn't voodoo just a small chain from NOLA though? no more a chain than Monjuni's if you ask me.

I agree with this too. But when I eat a really good gumbo, I know it. My wife had the seafood gumbo yesterday from Chimes and ehh, so-so. I like Brunet's seafood gumbo over any other I've had here and it really isn't great....just good. Maybe a C+ or B-.

Zombie, welcome to the world of being a food/restaurant critic and writer.
My advice is that you either gather some thicker skin or learn to stay out of tit for tat threads about what you don't agree with others on.
I agree 100% with your overall concept and love that you are doing something like this in BR, but don't be one of those folks who comes off angry about what other people's thoughts or, especially if they don't agree with you.

A little different IMO. Is each Monjuni's location individually owned and operated by different people?

what's hilarious is that I like Louisiana Lagniappe. As I've said I've been there dozens of times. I know the owner very well outside of the restaurant. It's one of the better restaurants in BR.
Zombie is just losing his shite.

jeez no joke. especially if he's only eaten at the restaurant he's touting once?
has he tried a steak? has he had a fish other than the drum?
just seems like he's all caught up.
i'm surprised no one mentions gino's anymore. I still love that place.
Even Ruffino's is remarkably consistent with good atmosphere, great steaks and italian fare.

i saw someone at sushi yama talking to the owner about advertising in 225. once he agreed, she said she would do an article on him. i think they pay homage to those who pay them.
This is how it works, and it's been like this for a long time with a variety of local publications. I've sat down with restaurant owners that didn't speak English well to translate the perks of advertising.
And if you get that full-page ad, you're golden.

i think gino's won best italian in the mag if memory serves .. which i won't argue with .. and yes, i love ruffino's too .. never had a bad meal there ... speaking of gino's, there is a huge BR culinary event coming up where mama marino will be cooking for the masses .. looked pretty interesting ..

Yeah, but if he aspires for this to turn into more than just a tigerdroppings deal for him, it is not a good idea to get into arguments about different restaurants, etc.
Also Zombie, 225 does suck. You have the right.
