The oyster poboy at JEDs is $11.95/$16.95 depending on the size, so pretty much on par with those.
$22 seems crazy to me, but looking at their menu, it looks like its just the oyster poboy thats really expensive. the others are all $7.95/$10.95

Fair enough.

Funny though, because I saw this in 225 report today. Apparently their whole concept revolves around keeping things at a lower price.... Yet their prices are just about the same as every other place:
quote:
...I wanted to do those things at a lower price point in a much more casual environment.”
“I think the industry is trending in that direction,” he adds.
That’s the concept behind JED’s Local: Order your po-boys at the counter without breaking the bank. Order a drink from the bar. Sit down and eat a sandwich or two. Maybe even browse the shops nearby or stroll down Capital Heights, if the weather’s nice.
JED’s Local manages its prices by running a tight ship with minimal waste. Davis says having two restaurants means he can order seafood in bulk, which helps keep prices low.

16.95 plus 2.95 for the pobiy is fine but dont add 3 bucks for the fries

Maybe Jed will read this and reconsider. if he's getting seafood in bulk, he's probably paying $50 for a gallon of oysters. You can make a lot of poboys from a gallon.

Tell me about the bread? Leidenheimers?
Crusty French bread that's softish in the middle?
Or Italian style bread loaves that are soft all over?

I must have had a bad one. Bread to oyster ratio was way off. Didnt have nearly enough oysters.
I like Eliza and eat there pretty regularly but wasnt impressed with the poboy.
one of the people at our table the last time we went to Eliza got an oyster poboy. It literally had five oysters and stale bread. I forget what the other dishes were but they were obviously forgettable that night as well. That night's experience was piss poor compared to our prior experiences. For the price they need to be consistent otherwise I could pay a lot less for that sort of meal.

I went last night and had a large fried shrimp poboy and a small fries, and with a tip it was only a bit over $16 (I just drank water).
The shrimp were fried perfectly and were overflowing. There were quite a few left over after finishing the poboy, the way it should be. Bread was authentic.
I liked the crinkle-cut fries - well-seasoned, but could have been crisper for my tastes.
All in all, a good addition to Mid-City. I’ll be back.

Went for lunch today. Got the large Roast Beef with gravy. It was really good. They put a ton of Roast Beef on it. I could have taken some out and made another sandwich
Ill be back. There wasnt anyone else there when I went, but probably because I walked in at exactly 11am.

Ive been 3-4 times now and have tried a bunch of different stuff that was all really good. I got stale bread one day which sucked, but all the other times the bread was on point. Its nice to finally have a legit po boy place in br.

I always thought Capital City Crawfish in that strip mall behind Superior Grill was legit.

yep my only complaint is that sometimes the bread is stale. He's definitely not getting it in fresh every day.

My poboy had bread sliced only partially through. Then served sort of “hot dog” style with lettuce and other dressings laid in first, then shrimp on top to gjve it the overstuffed appearance. By the time I rearranged it a to a normal poboy, it was nothing special.
