Get a fried softshell crab poboy. It's the one staple I get every year.

There are many good places in kennerbrah too. Harbor Seafood, Kenner Seafood, Check in Check out if you want that good old NOLA gas station poboy. Also a couple pho shops with early hours for your hangover needs.

unless they've change it from years past, this has never been the case for me. i've always brought in 6 or so frozen waters in my backpack, unhidden. never gotten shite for it.

Oh My!!! Its my favorite time of the year. Three of my favorites things in the world all wrapped into one:
1) Crowds
2) Music
3) Festival Food
I can't wait to go

Cochon de lait poboy
Duck poboy
Crawfish Monica
Soft shell crab poboy
Crawfish bread
Shrimp bread
Crawfish enchilada
Crawfish beignets
Grilled steak Pita
And there is some jamaican stuff we usually get but I don't remember what it is called.
Also, the deal about 1 bottle of water isn't true. You're allowed to bring a "soft cooler" ice chest. I bring an ice chest every single year with about 10 waters in the chest for me and my wife. Another little known fact is that you can bring food into Jazz Fest. I usually pack some fruit and hummus & pita bread in the ice chest so we don't have to spend money on food all day.
We are there standing in line when the gates open and they never check us too good because it is a mad rush to get in at that time. Not sure about other times when it slows down but I could pretty much bring in whatever the hell I want to during that initial opening of the gates.

And the poulet fricassee (chicken on a stick). It is so simple, but so good with that same hot sauce lathered on it. A buffalo wing on a stick.

I think The best stand at JF is the one that sells crawfish strudel (better than any other crawfish dish there) and white chocolate bread pudding.
The Cajun Duck Poboy is also a winner

Any ideas for alcoholic beverages in my camelback?
Posted on 4/25/13 at 12:02 pm to PapaPogey
I know people who do like a Gatorade/RedBull/Vodka mix...if that's your thing. Gatorade is clutch for the hydration
Posted on 4/25/13 at 12:14 pm to Spaulding Smails
That's what I was thinking...something that will get me drunk and keep my hydrated at the same time. Do they check camelbacks? I've never been to Jazzfest so pardon my ignorance.

Jazz Fest always conflicts with dead week & finals at LSU. I definitely want to go next year when I'm back in Nola. Mainly just to eat the food

Not to be missed:
Cochon du Lait po boy
Crawfish enchiladas
Crawfish sack
Mango freeze
Meat pie
I love the quail and pheasant gumbo, but sometimes I just can't do it because it's too damn hot outside.
Hit or Miss:
Crawfish Monica (sometimes the pasta is way overcooked, and it's just not good.
Crawfish Bread - probably the most hit or miss item out there. Sometimes it's got a bunch of great crawfish in it. Sometimes it's got 3-5 rubbery, chinese crawfish in there.
You are allowed to bring in as much water as you want as long as it's factory sealed.
Bag searches will be happening much more this year due to the marathon bombings.
I've seen booze confiscated that was put into the middle of folding chairs.
I fill a gallon zip lock bag about half way with vodka, and then I tape it to the underside of my fold up chair. If they stick their hand into my chair, they feel nothing. The only way theyd find my bag is if they asked me to take my entire chair out of the bag...and that ain't gonna happen.

Camelbacks should be ok...not like they are going to take a sip of your stuff
