I prefer Tacos Mariachi and Taquero on singleton.
I like Mariachi -- have been a couple of times.
Never been to Taquero though I hear its good.
Banqueta and Trompo are my top two, in that order.

James beard is beyond political and ridiculous. I’ve worked for multiple james beard chefs and while it is an honor to get nominated it’s an overwhelming amount of brown nosing. Lots of chefs or restaurants basically just buy the award.
My annual James Beard hot take is that New Orleans is in a soft region which always inflates their nominations.

Walked in and sat at the bar twice in the last 6 weeks. Could be true about the tables, but there seemed to be spots available

This is always so funny to me. Solid chinese food with one of the best wine selections in the state in one of the most shitty motels in Bossier
Funny story... I was in Shreveport playing in a golf tournament last year when a friend recommended we go to Lucky Palace for dinner. I trusted him and went... dinner was very, very good - but the wine list was incredible (considering). While looking over the list, I noticed he has a Cabernet & a Syrah from a vineyard in California that does not distribute to Louisiana. (I know the vineyard owner, too). They are 2 of my absolute favorite wines. I flipped out when I saw them and he said they had some.... Ive never seen them in LA.
Arkansas gets them, so on a yearly trip to Little Rock - I usually stock up at Colonial Wine or search for them while in Texas.
Lim sold me 3 bottles of them that night for an incredibly fair price!
I will return!

Houston covers 25% of the Best Chef: Southwest category.

And in a shocking twist, New York City covers 100% of the Best Chef: New York City category.

Super happy to see Hieu Than from Kin get recognition in his nomination for Best Chef - South
I was so sad when he pivoted concepts shifting from the amazing fine dining he was doing to the ramen shop, but it has been a great restaurant.

I’ve known Lim for about 20 years....went and ate there for Valentine’s Day and talked to him for a few minutes. He’s battling back and seems to be in good spirits...got a good report from his last doctor’s visit.
Food was great as usual...damn shame I’m not a wine drinker though. From my friends and relatives who are...they really enjoy his collection.
