It is shocking how bland the food is.

Every type place in that same concept is either overpriced, junk, or both.

Atlanta Bread Company, Panera Bread, Jason's Deli, McCalister's, Zoe's Kitchen, etc.

I think they would still do well in Baton Rouge. I just checked online and they have one in Lafayette?

They offer a good bird, must go at the right times. And a decent prime rib special on certain evenings. I will go when in Texas or Florida for work.

For what it is, absolutely.

I do like their Asiago Cheese bagel though, and will swing by there every now and then for one.

I like almost everything Panera offers but it's just executed poorly.

Panera is like Chipotle in that everyone claims it's beloved by basic white girls, but I think now it's pretty en vogue to hate on both. They're kinda hood around here now.

We stopped by there one Saturday morning a few months ago for breakfast. For a family of 4, our tab came to almost $60. Granted my 16 year old son ordered 2 breakfast sandwiches and a cinnamon roll, but we'd have been much better off going to Cracker Barrel or Waffle House.

You can throw Schlotzsky's in there too. Wife and 2 teenage sons cost $75.00 for lunch. Not worth it, as another posted already stated rather Waffle House !

The pick 2 is not $12 assuming a $3 drink, and there’s no such thing as a 3 inch sandwich there. They have 1/2 sandwiches which are exactly that.
A pick 2 with chips or apple is plenty for me and it’s under $10.
I apologize to all for my snotty attitude yesterday though.

Some of it’s not. Some of it is.

I apologize specifically to you for my pissy response yesterday.

The half sandwich deal is the one that has burned me at Jasons/McAllisters/Panera, like others in this thread.

Its because their half sandwich is half of a smaller sized sandwich. Most of us in south Louisiana think of a half sandwich as a 6inch sub/French bread type of deal because we are used to poboys in that price range. To get half a sandwich and end up with only one side of this feels like a bad value.

.. Especially when we are thinking half of something like this.

It isn't uncommon to get something the size of one half of that poboy, served WITH fries, for the price of the pick 2 meal at Panera.

I've been to Panera about 5-10 times in my life, usually with co-workers for lunch. I don't hate it but will never recommend it either, primarily because it feels overpriced.

What in the hell did you order at Schlotzsky's that totaled $75 for lunch? And I guess if you grew up with a good muff shop on every corner, you might say their food was bland.
