In Fort Worth alone, these guys are putting out serious food:
Heim
Derek Allan's
Panther City
Cowtown Brewing (in the brewery and it's effing good)

I was lead to believe the correct answer is Brooklyn.
Clearly people are missing the reference in my post.
I expected more from you F&DB.

Why Is Brooklyn Barbecue Taking Over the World?
Brooklyn BBQ is spreading to every corner of the world—Colombia, Spain, Panama, Sweden, England, and Japan—looking like it came straight out of Williamsburg. But why aren't these countries taking cues from Texas or Kansas City?

at least a half dozen top shelf joints I can attest to (Truth, Pit Room, Killens, Roegels, Corkscrew, and Pinkertons).
I'm nowhere near a BBQ connoisseur, but from what I've read in Texas Monthly, some of the *best* Texas BBQ joints are basically places that sell until whatever their pitmaster prepared for the day is gone.
Probably rolling into H-town around 5:00PM Saturday FWIW.

The Pit Room is off Richmond and I think they're open late. Not too far away from Minute Maid.

Check out Jackson Street BBQ across the street

Yeah, you guys aren't really nationally known for it but yet are trying to claim capital. Continue the Houston circle jerk though. You have some decent restaurants, I still find it funny you include Killens. I got sent there and wasn't anything grand.
Too much salt in this guy's 'cue, amirite?

I had Truth today for the first time...I was impressed with the sides and the banana pudding. Their brisket was fine; was the only thing they had left.
I’d like to go back to catch them when they aren’t sold out of almost everything, but I wasn’t blown away by the brisket.
I must be missing something with Killen’s. When he first opened that restaurant it without a doubt changed Houston’s BBQ scene, though than wasn’t hard to do with Luther’s, Pappa’s and Goode being your competition.
I went back last year on a whim for dinner, it was serviceable at best.

quote:I haven't been for dinner, in fact, I don't think I've been there in the past year since they started dinner service. But the 3 times I had it before that, I really liked it. Liked that they offered a beef rib plate with a smaller beef rib and sides for $18 or so. Whereas usually a beef rib is $25-30 a la carte.

Having Feges and Truth nearby makes it harder to justify driving to Pearland.
