I think we can all agree that Houston is smoking Dallas and San Antonio in the BBQ game

love Kreuz for nostalgia, but BBQ at places like Franklin's, LaBBQ, Valentina, Pecan Lodge, Pit Room, Pinkertons are light years ahead of the places in Lockhart.
Yeah for me Smittys is a step back in time and no question Hou is putting out some excellent stuff. Will they stand the test of time and it goes back to the question is Hou now the capital? Tough question but Lockhart historically will be in the discussion.

Come to Kansas City, there are always fantastic options for BBQ but Q39 opened a few years ago, and I had the best burnt ends I've ever had there a few weeks ago. They've got a "Mr. Burns" sandwich w/pepperjack cheese and onion straws. Both of which were fantastic, but had to peel them off so I could eat the burnt ends on their own.

yes, with all the petro plants, Houston itself has a wonderfully delicious bark surrounding it.

BBQ is pork. Just because TX tries to push their protein doesn't mean you get the name.

Louisiana baws defining what good Texas Q is. How cute. I guess we should go ahead and claim the seafood capital while we're at it.

Such as? I've had places listed in Houston, Dallas, and Austin and they're all pretty damn good. People are going to rank based on emotion and whichever city they like best.

I bet if someone set a slice of fatty brisket in front of you from one of the joints in the OP and told you that you could have it if you would only call it "BBQ" you would change your tune.
FTR, TX brisket >>>>> AL pulled pork. Just sayin.
