Grapefruit was meh, and i've never had wrought iron. I've tried to give Abita a chance, but they disappoint me time and time again.
And with Great Raft and Parish in the same state, i really don't need to buy any of their beers.
These are just my own subjective opinions on the brewery and their beers. I think they make 1 of 2 beers. It's either bland and boring, or trendy and disgusting.

Wrought Iron is a solid beer when fresh.
I'll certainly try a single bottle of the Big Easy IPA. It can't be worse than Jockamo.

Trendy is ok as long as it's good right ?

Just make a classic style, but make it the best you can make it. You don't have to frick it up by throwing crab boil, king cake sugar, or whatever the hell is in Jockamo in it.
This sounds like Rogue Brewing. However, there is hope. Rogue recently started brewing some pretty damn good IPAs. I didn't expect that I would be in a position where a Rogue IPA would make my choice tough.

thread hijack..
But jmarto, speaking of local breweries, any word on new brewhouse and restaurant downtown Houma on barrow?
And any new restaurants to compete with you at hooters on the horizon?

Is this release party at the abita brew pub?
It's on the Natchez Steamboat

It's just so disappointing that they are the "flagship brewery" of Louisiana.
Lousiana is pretty behind when it comes to beers. I like Abita but there are way better beers out there for sure. Louisiana is just starting to get serious about producing really good beers imo.

What's up QB. How's the family? Cornerstone is still under construction. I've asked my beer reps to set me up with a meeting but the guy is understandably busy with the construction. His sysco rep is a regular and has passed the word on that I'd like to meet. He will let me know when the guy has time. As far as competition, no one is opening under the current economic climate. It sounds like your sports bar options will be us, Walk Ons, BWW's, and TP if they can hang on. TP has a new rumor of it shutting down every other month. Eventually smoke has to lead to fire.

Went there last Friday. That night was for industry people and tonight is for the general public.

Wrought Iron is good. I don't care what anybody says.

wrought iron is good
so is amber
so is restoration
so is the summer pils
so is turbodog
I really don't get the snubbed noses at abita
it's good beer, it's priced right, and you don't have to chase a truck to find it
there are many better beers but that doesn't make it not good beer

Do people in Colorado shite on New Belgium the people here complain about Abita? Some people on here act like you should apologize if you're seen with one in your hand.
Abita has plenty of drinkable stuff. Love the Macchiato Stout. Turbo Dog is a sometimes favorite. I look forward to Abita Strawberry at a crawfish boil...that's right, I said it. I'm not offended that they don't have the highest BA score, I like them.

After having Jockamo recently, I have to say it gets more hate than other equally bad IPAs. I don't expect a Ghost level beer, but I don't hold all beers to that level.
Agree completely. I don't have a problem with it, there's just so many choices overall.

There is no telling how many people that "don't like IPAs" think this because they tried a Jockamo.
That's what happened to me. Tried my first Jockamo at 18 and had to throw that thing away, it was awful. Thought I hated IPAs after that. It took a friend convincing me to try a St Arnold IPA when I was already drunk for me to give IPAs another shot. Now I love them
