There is no telling how many people that "don't like IPAs" think this because they tried a Jockamo

Happened to me. First IPA was a jockamo and I didn't try another one for several years. Tried Ghost recently and now I'm on an IPA kick

I don't expect a Ghost level beer, but I don't hold all beers to that level.

I had one back in late December and thought it was unquestionably dogshit. It was free and I wasn't complaining, but saying anything positive about it is the craft beer equivalent to putting lipstick on a pig.

I can usually only have one or two IPA's in a sitting. I can drink Ghost all day for some reason.

It won't for much longer. Jockamo is being retired.

Wow, hadn't heard that yet.

This IPA is taking its place?

I don't know if anything is really taking its place in the lineup. Could be Big Easy IPA, but I know that Jockamo will be no longer soon.

Isn't Big Easy more of a session IPA?

That's good because Jockamo is an embarrassment for Abita. Their regular offerings are average at best, but getting rid of Jockamo will help get the average up.

According to the Abita website, Big Easy IS a session IPA.

If I was at a crawfish boil and the only beer they had was Abita, I just wouldn't drink.

I hope it's in bombers. I'd rather drink 8 beers instead of 15.

Of course it is.

Why can't Abita just try to brew 1 damn beer that is worth a shite, instead of being a gimmicky pile of shite?

Abita Triple Haze
Abita Strawgator
Abita Not your father's root beer for people who hate beer and root beer
Abita's shite leftover after you wash out the crawfish ale
Abita Grapefruit IPA
Abita King Cake

And now they are here to taint the waters of the session IPA's. Why? Because it's one of the fads going around in the "beer" world.

I hate session beers. I hate the word "session". I don't care how much alcohol is in the beer, just make it flavorful. And i particularly despise session IPA's because they try to pack too many hops with no malt backbone into a 4% alcohol beer. It tastes like shite.

This will be another beer in the long line of Abita new releases that i will never try.

Wrought Iron and Grapefruit are both decent IPAs. Granted, they don't appeal to the people who can only lower themselves to the level of drinking Ghost.

I can tell you with a high degree of certainty, it will not. If it is, then i'll wait for a report back here before i attempt to purchase shite from them.

It's just so disappointing that they are the "flagship brewery" of Louisiana. Just make a classic style, but make it the best you can make it. You don't have to frick it up by throwing crab boil, king cake sugar, or whatever the hell is in Jockamo in it.
