Have you started yours? Do you make one dish from start to finish before starting another? Clean as you go? Make a huge mess?
Post what you’re cooking!
The calm before the storm.
Starting with some mirliton dressing ingredients.
Meat mixture done. Mirlitons are cooling.
Grating cheese for mac n cheese.

Won’t begin the prep work until after work this evening. Looking forward to doing some chopping and drinking some wine.
Usually multiple dishes at once and definitely clean as we go.

I started dry brining the Turkey on Monday night so its sitting in there.
I did some prep work for my wife's gumbo last night, she makes it tonight.

I dry brined mine yesterday afternoon. I was hoping to get started on cornbread for my dressing and potatoes/sweet potatoes last night, but work interfered. I will get started at some point this afternoon.

This is the first year I'm making nothing, and it feels weird. I ordered the items I'm contributing from Iverstine this time.
About to head to the store and get the stuff to make a few batches of sausage balls just so I have some sort of holiday cooking feeling.
I see you're doing the sausage/beef kind. That's my favorite by far over the seafood.

I cooled and rough chopped most of the mirliton, reserving some for a separate shrimp dish. This is for the rice dressing.
Added to the pot, and then combined with the meat mixture. Will let that simmer a little bit. I won’t mix it with rice until tomorrow.
My husband usually cleans as I cook. He’s also on standby for last minute grocery runs, reaching for things in the upper cabinets, and to remind me (several times) that I don’t need to cook for a crowd.

Good for you for not cooking! I’d probably also want to make SOMETHING, just to get into the spirit, too. Happy Thanksgiving, LL!

Cooking chicken down now for dressing
Going to start chocolate pie later then make my cornbread
Undecided if I’m going to put the Mac & cheese together today or not
Still trying to figure out timing of cooking everything tomorrow, I will never buy another house without a double oven

Working on the collard greens right now, since they're better the longer they sit.
Going to put together the broccoli-rice casserole next, so I can just pop it in the oven tomorrow. I will also make the deviled eggs today.
Pork dressing will be made tomorrow, as well as the rolls and the main protein, which is a smoked pork roast this year (we're not turkey peeps unless it's from the deli and on a sandwich).

Today will only be making cornbread for tomorrows dressing, and injecting/rubbing 4 turkeys for the fry pot tomorrow.

This year is the first time I’ve tried an overnight bone broth in the oven. Usual method but put it all in a pot semi covered and let it roll at 200 for the night. House smells great. Broth was golden perfection.
Did rotisserie chickens for gumbo.
Dry brine turkey. Gonna smoke that B in the backwoods chubby.

Making the roux, which becomes bechamel, which becomes a mornay sauce?
5 cups of buttermilk, mustard powder, other seasonings of choice.
2 pounds of cheese
1 pound of macaroni
And my husband is out getting some square aluminum pans for me to bake in. One for serving at dinner, and one for my son to take home.
Will make the topping after I get the pans.

That’s a nice kitchen. I like the subway tile backslash.

I started my turkey brine this morning. When I get off work I'll make the mac and cheese to bake off tomorrow morning. Deviled eggs, pies, etc will be done tonight too.
I can't wait

Turkey is dry-brined. Turkey wings and aromatics roasting in the oven for gravy. Made cornbread Monday evening for dressing. Pies will me made this evening. Need to make a double batch of tea.
The collective opinion of my guests is that no one likes green bean casserole. We're riding with Margaret this year.

It sounds like Alfalfa is a good husband, Darla.
