They walk around with all the meats so you don't really have to order anything specific. The salad bar is solid

I've always enjoyed the lamb chops and the cured meats and cheeses from the salad bar

Salad bar is there to distract you from gorging on the meat and getting your money's worth.

I recommend preparing for meat sweats about an hour after.

Only two suggestions for OP:

Hit the salad bar-the soup is good

Ask for the low sodium meat

Don't fill up on the salad bar unless that is your thing. Tip the person with the lamb $10 and tell him to just keep coming over, you can thank me later.

Try some things, but don't get tricked into filling up on the crappy cuts

They bring out the cheap cuts probably 3X as often as the good cuts (at least at the brazilian steakhouses I've been to)

The salad bar is actually really good. I think there used to be a $15 deal to just do that. I'm not sure that still exists but if you're going for a first time get the meat sweats

dont take a slice of something just because they are at the table.

The lamb is the best. Ask for the horseradish sauce. The mint jelly for the lamb sucks.

If you get beef ask them for rare. they seem to cook all the beef to one temp.. medium well.

and most importantly. Get a big arse glass of cab to go with all the meat.

Must get:
Lobster bisque
Potatoes on the salad bar
Beef rib
Lamb chop
Sirloin

Don't really care for the sausage or the bacon wrapped filet. Everything else is good.

The salad bar and lobster bisque are terrific. Better than the salty overcooked meats to me.

Keep a bottle or two of water by your bed that night. You'll need it.

which location? I ate at one in New York last year and the meat was basically still mooing. It was incredible.

Be prepared for a lot of mediocre food but in large quantities.

No, 50% of the tip for the night goes to people like the meat carvers, bussers, etc. Now if you have a particular meat you like, for me the lamb lollipops, I recommend throwing them a few dollars at the carver and he/she will come to your table all night.

I’ve never heard of this “tipping the carvers with better meat” thing before, but it’s been mentioned multiple times so I believe it.

I’m just amazed that it’s commonplace to spend ~$50 on a meal before drinks and then pay extra to avoid the crappy stuff.

Why not just go to a better restaurant and spend the same or less for one plate of food that you really want?

ETA: for the OPs purposes, I completely understand that he’s going for someone’s graduation, so completely different scenario. I’m just talking about in general.
