I’ve seen a grouper ‘gratin’ variation on several gulf beach restaurant menus. Seems a little heavy on the cheese here tho.

Correct. They know how to run a business and bravo to them. But doesn’t mean the food is “good”.

If the food wasn’t good they would not be running a successful business.

You may not like it personally but that’s not relevant. It’s apparent that it is good enough for them to have stayed in business for quite a many years in what is one of the absolute hardest businesses to operate.

So you don’t like it. Good for you. OP likes it as do a few others in the thread. Me? Maybe I try it if I’m in that mood or maybe not. Not a dealbreaker one way or the other and certainly wouldn’t stop me from patronizing the place to develop my own opinion based on facts but it still would be only my opinion.

Just to be clear, I wasn’t making a reference to this Captain Dave’s place.

I wasn’t even talking about the OP’s place. I was responding to a poster who said he laughed when told a place was good because of cars. The replies were not relevant to the OP’s post.

You’re too quick to jump on me, you don’t even know what I was taking about. Never did I bash Captain Dave’s as a restaurant, which was the OP’s post.

We know this. Martini is too biased against me to understand what is being said.

A lot of people posting in this thread missed the fact that you said it was no longer on the regular menu. Likely due to the somewhat recent influx of dipshits from LA to the Emerald Coast. Unfortunately (for my home state) most of them stop at the first sign of sugar sand in Gulf Shores/ Orange Beach.

They also don’t realize cows produce the materials for butter, cream, and cheese.

I have not. If a fish dish comes with a cream sauce I simply order it without. Here’s how I want my snapper prepared:

Ate there last week and had the Snapper Jane. It has a Parmesan cream sauce, but it's not drowned in it. Very tasty.

I would try it. I love crab au gratin casseroles. I love crab dips and they have cheese sometimes. I love anything crab.
