Their Pho was very underwhelming as well. Sounds like they changed names for tax write off purposes and are still chugging along serving very meh dishes. I went twice and never will my foot cross the threshold again.

I don't know much about Thai food but I eat vermicelli bowls any chance I get.
I skip pho. I used to eat it but Im not a fan of eating a gallon of hot soup for lunch.

I am constantly confused on the difference between viet and thai restaurants.

Of the few I've tried Viet Garden is my favorite.

"viet" is the cuisine of vietnam (pho, bahn mi, etc)
"thai" is the cuisine of thailand (pahd thai, curries, etc)
same continent, two completely different cultures

For banh mi, soups, and (surprisingly great) chicken curry, I go to Dang's.
For grilled meats, rice dishes, bun, and other treats I go to Viet Garden. For example yesterday I had the #11 lotus root salad, #6 Vietnamese cupcake (banh kot), and #99 baby clam dip... all were great. A lot of people prefer the soups here, but I like Dang's better.

1- little saigon
1a- dangs
I wasnt a fan of saigon noodle or viet garden.
I usually go to little saigon because my daughter likes the baskin robbins next door.

I'll be going to Dang's soon.

All right... I gave Dang's a try, and, wow, what a difference.
The Pho was great, and everything everybody around me was having looked great, too. The waitress was phenomenal.
It's a bit out of the way for me, but I'll be going back.

Yeah, Dang's isn't much to look at, but the food is very good. On a future visit, try the chicken curry. Trust me.

Someone told me about Vietnamese crepes that were really good. It's been a while and I can't remember where they served them. Does Dang's have them?

One is that it's the cleanest Vietnamese place in the city, and two, if you live in the Coursey area, it will save you a trip down the hellacious 45 minute - 1 hour round trip on Sherwood Forest Blvd. Flock that two lane, school bus laden piece of shite road. I often settled for Dream Berrie just so I wouldn't have to drive Sherwood Forest.
Dream Berri(e) is now Pho Cafe, the restaurant the OP said sucks, which I agree.

Maybe on their Vietnamese menu but i wouldn't bank on it.
If none of you guys have had any of the hot pots from Omi on Essen, I highly recommend it. Don't worry about the few number of low Yelp reviews that complain about their waiter/waitress not speaking English.
That said, the food is some untouchable homestyle Chinese food and New Orleans doesn't have anything that can compare.
And when it comes to Dang's and Viet Garden, I say VG. I've been getting away from their pho and getting their egg noodle or ramen dishes. Both dishes are incredible, and they have better plates than Dang's. The shrimp cake is also a must there.
Dang's does have the best price on roasted duck in town, the broth can be better than Viet on some days, but i find their tendon to not be as packed with beef flavor as Viet Garden's.
Best thing to do is to sample both and make your own choice. You won't be disappointed in either, but seriously make it out to Omi. Baton Rouge doesn't need to lose this gem of a restaurant

Not to high jack, but if Donald T said "those people" you would flat out call him racist.
Sorry the pho wasn't good. I'll avoid that place.
