I-10 East from Lake Chuck to New Orleans, please give me a spot to stop for grub

Hello Food & Drink Board,
I have been a longterm lurker. Full disclosure, I have not been back to Louisiana outside of metro New Orleans in over a decade.
I got a unique opportunity to make the road trip across I-10 today.
Can you please give me a suggestion of a place you love off of I-10 that has some great local food?
If not, I am leaning random Waffle House.

Well in that case, you'll need a growing list.
I would recommend at some point taking a detour about 5-10 miles South of I-10 from Jennings and eating at C'est Bon in Mermentau.
Also, at some point get you a chicken hot dinner box from Burger Zone in Crowley.

In-laws in Iowa, La. if you want a quick bite. Get the fried ribs.
at some point you will realize its easier to take HWY 90 from NOLA to Lake Chuck. When you have this epiphany, I'd suggest you try Shade Tree in Broussard for lunch and Boiling Point in New Iberia for some boiled seafood. You'll only get stuck on the ABB or in BR traffic once or twice when you realize the Interstate is a bad option.

Rabideaux's Sausage Kitchen: I-10 exit 165 south (exit 44), 1 mile off interstate, Iowa, LA. Very good plate lunches, can't beat the fresh smoked sausage, tasso, and andouille for cooking your meals, and the fried catfish is some of the best I've had anywhere !

Do yourself a favor and bring an ice chest along. Doesn't have to be that big. Then you can load up on smoked sausage, boudin, tasso, and andouille on your rebound.
LA has an embarassment of riches when it comes to specialty meat joints. Many along the I-10 corridor.
Boudin balls and boudin rolls from Kartchner's and Billy's are great grab-n-go's as well.
Exits 44 and 97 are your new friends.

Billy’s is no longer the boudin Mecca that it once was. Ever since they have expanded, they have become too big for their britches and their boudin quality has suffered. Although it is still a fair product, there are many that have surpassed it.

Probably an unpopular opinion but BBQ West in Lake Charles is really good BBQ for Louisiana

There’s a Darrell’s Poboy in Jennings close to I10. They make a good Poboy. Try the Darrell special. Also the original is in LC.
Cest Bons is close to there also in Mermentau.
Wife and I love Middendorfs in Manchac for thin fried catfish.
Spars if you go the 90 route to Nola.
Diguilio Brothers is one of my spots to stop off of I10. Good Italian good in Baton Rouge.

Hwy 90 is about 20 - 25 minutes longer with no traffic on either. It can definitely be faster if they have a wreck on I-10 or if you are going to hit bad traffic in BR.
I have stopped at Billy's boudin just north of I-10 on hwy 90. It's built onto the side of the Exxon station and they have hot ready to go food and fridges and freezers for stuff to take home.

Karchner's as mentioned earlier. Billy's is dang good but lines are usually too long for me.
Not sure if too far off the interstate, but think Pop's Po-Boys and Olde Tyme Grocery in Laffy are solid spots.
