I mean, it’s many people’s alternative to living inside of Baton Rouge. Are there really a plethora of amazing restaurants in any outskirt town?

For a town its size, Gonzales has some good options. What are you really expecting?
Go to Opelousas and look at your restaurant options

Gonzales and Denham Springs have a ton of restaurants for being about 10,000 people in population

I work in Gonzales, so the dining options can get a little repetitive.
Albasha is a go-to. So is Bergeron's. For sushi, I drive the extra miles for Geisha, though Ichiban will be opening soon. Jimmy John's is in the rotation for a quick, cheap lunch. Mike Anderson's and Don's are both good. Buffalo Wild Wings for wings in a pinch. Chick-fil-A, the GOAT of fast food. South of Philly makes an awesome burger. Country Kitchen has an awesome lunch buffet. Leader's is better than Popeye's.
It's really not that sad...

Oh, the horror. Guess they'll have to drive the 20 minutes to Baton Rouge to get a "fine dining" meal.

I was told it was the only decent place to eat in the area.
If you like overpriced tilapia it is.

Actually this is the parish plan to keep folks like you and your wife away.

Go to Houmas House?
Kids used to walk from Gonzales Middle to the Houmas House area every day, so it isn't that far.

Then do something super classy like overpaying a chef to come into your home and cook a meal that anyone with half a brain could make.

Don's or Mike Anderson's is probably the nicest restaurant on that list.

The lack of indoor seating is driven by the fact that the majority of the workers upon whom places that serve lunch rely cannot leave their places of business at lunch time (plant workers and contractors). Thus, most of these lunch places make money off of takeout or deliverying plate lunches en-masse to offices and refineries.

Houma’s House, Don’s, The Cabin, Sno’s, Carlico, Mike Anderson’s, Kamal’s
There’s a lot more sitdown restaurants in Prarieville plus there’s Kevin’s, Sarita’s and Hilltop by the diversion canal
Most people go to the city for a “date”. We’re just casual here, but that doesn’t mean there’s a shortage of great food, just great chinese food and bbq.

If you don't live in Gonzales then why are you concerned about the quality and or quantity of restaurants there?
Are you upset with dining choices in French Lick, Indiana too?

We've probably run past each other and never known it I work in Gonzo also, and used to eat out for lunch with coworkers a lot. You're right, it gets repetitive. Makes bringing your own lunch a lot more tolerable, at least.
