I eat a home cooked meal maybe 2-4 times a week. Everything else is restaurants.

Once a month on average probably.

My wife and I much rather cook something on the back patio to save time, save money, and relax and have a drink while the kids play outside.

With my wife one night a week.

Lunch maybe 1 or 2 a week depending on business lunch schedule.

I eat out a lot less then I used to but mostly for health reasons.

2-3 times

As far as budget goes, it doesn’t have to be detrimental, but if you’re eating at places that are $150+ then it obviously could be.

Breakfast and Lunch Daily
Dinner Maybe 1-2 a week.

Weekends I do big meals and eat/snack all day.

We might buy 2-3 pizzas and it is lunch and dinner. Get a couple of pounds of Pulled Pork or Smoked Turkey and that is lunch and dinner.

As far as sit-down dining, very rarely any more.

I prefer eating at home a lot of the time because I like cooking and it's much more reasonable on the ole pocketbook. Nothing worse than spending $50 at a run of the mill Mexican joint and realizing the food is no better than what my wife and I can make at home at a fraction of the price. Or going to a steakhouse and paying $40 for a single small filet and more for some shitty sides (while paying $9-12 for a cocktail). I've just grown cheaper, I mean more 'frugal', as I've aged.

All that said, if we're meeting up with friends, I'd rather eat out than host.

Maybe once a year. We cook six nights a week and will get some kind of take-out the other day. Obviously way cheaper but that's not why. I just feel like we can create most any dish we're craving at home.

Average 7-10 restaurant meals a week. That includes 5 lunches during the work week and usually a brunch on the weekend

I don’t always eat out, but when I do I prefer restaurants.

We go through phases of all or nothing during the week but always do Friday/Saturday dinners out.

Weeknights depend on whether we prep for the week ahead or not because we both get home too late to start anything super-involved. If we don’t prep, it’s out or takeout.

1. Never, but we do get sushi takeout 1-2 times a week

2. Cooking

3. It's absolutely a huge waste of money
