Looking at the top 50 rest. A lot of you folks spend a lot of money on dining out. Im not poor by any means but cant fathom spending more than 50 or 60 on a meal for me and the wife. How many times would each of you say youve spent more than 75 ? 100? 150? for 2 meals not including alcoloic drinks. this is a totally different animal.

We eat large twice a month. 100 bucks really isn't that much. When I say large, I am looking at 200 +.

There are very few things that I splurge on or treat myself to. Food is definitely one of them. I don't do it every night but once a week the wife and I will go somewhere and have a nice meal. I don't mind paying for quality of both food and service.

I guess if you dont include booze, I spend $75 when i go on a date. Dating is expensive, I guess that is why I dont do it much. and i'm fat

A lot...hell, I've gone out and spent 100+ on myself on booze alone....
But $50/person goes away very quickly when drinking....

This.

I love eating out with my wife or with our friends and it is usually because of special ocassions. If I am going to get a baby sitter and go out somewhere, it is going to be worth it. And by worth it, I don't want to be eating at cheesy places with service staff and other diner who get on my nerves. I also want a few cocktails or glasses of wine.
I would say we have paid over $100 on maybe 25 meals and others have paid for me/us another 25 times or so.

Some people like their big pick up trucks/boats, etc and material things. Some people spend a bunch of money at casinos, hunting, fishing, LSU football, or golf. It is all in what you love to do.

Edited to cut numbers down to 25 each as I missed the not including drinks part.

It's hard to exclude alchohol from this. They go hand and hand. When eating good food 95% of the time I am having a glass(bottle) of wine that stands up to the food.

I'd say I hit the $150-$200 mark once a month maybe twice a month on special occasions. I have friends that make more than I do, but refuse to dine out and spend that much money, but like stated earlier...

Exactly. Food and wine/liquor I really enjoy. You gotta pay for the good stuff.

Agree. As a matter of fact it is impossible.

More than I've deserved, fewer than I'd like.

A couple of times. Clancy's on Annunciation, very good. About $150 for myself and the wife.

Wife treated me to Ruth's Chris on my birthday once. This was before Katrina, at the original on Broad St. Excellent. I'm pretty sure she spent at least $100 that night.

Too many times to count. When I go out to a meal like that, I like to make it as worthwhile as I can. Always like to make sure we get all the courses of the meal to sample a little bit of everything, and drinks add up quick too.
