Damn straight the best beer is made in America. If you can't find something from Sierra Nevada, Stone, Rogue, St Arnold, Bear Republic, Flying Dog, Anchor Steam, Abita, etc. that you absolutely love, well then you just dont like beer. I was an import guy in the past. Chimay and Delerium were my go to beers. Drank a lot dunkels also. I just feel that the craft beer in this country has caught and surpassed everything foriegn that I've had

This. Well not *everything* foreign, but I could drink nothing but American craft beers for the rest of my life and not feel like I'm missing out.

Duvel

I hate how you open the Duvel and it shoots beer out the top like a goddamned volcano, and then there's beer dripping from the ceiling and the kids are crying and your wife wants a divorce, and to top it off that $4 bottle only half-filled your glass.

It's worth it.

Now by American, it seems you mean the domestics and not necessarily the crafts. I do drink domestics occasionally, but I try things like Sam Adams, Abita, Sierra Nevada, Rogue, Stone, etc whenever possible.

Or if you can afford to drink a lot of Mikkeller, BrewDog, and a few others we can get like Nogne O or Epic. They do some really interesting stuff but it costs a fortune.

Mikkeller is my favorite brewery. Have had one bad beer from them. I'd drink it all the time if it wasn't a $6 minimum for a 12oz bottle.

I drink mostly American beer. Michelob ultra for the low carb diet. Bud light, shiner bock are my 2 favs when not dieting. Newcastle isn't American, is it?

Absolutely. I always grab this and put it back. My wallet just can't take it. With the Danish economy, there is no way this ever goes down either. It's not them trying to be snobbish either; there is just a price of doing business in Denmark.

No, it's British... but owned by one of the huge conglomerates I'm pretty sure.

ETA: Heineken International (3rd largest brewing company) owns Newcastle.

Allagash and Ommegang do a good job on Belgian Styles. You should check them out.

I tried Ommegang's Hennepin last night. It could be my favorite of the Ommegang lineup so far.

I drink 95% american beer. But none on that list of crap. Lagunitas, Full Sail, Brooklyn, North Coast, Avery, Boulevard are some of the american brewers I partake of.

I had a bottle of the Three Philosophers to end the weekend Sunday evening. Amazing. Very rich and complex. Reminds me of blue Chimay. It is incredible how "Belgian" these Ommegang beers taste.

Apparently not as many of you as these American beers are losing sales.

I drink mostly American beers, but I drink none of those American "beers"....Because they are pretty crappy for the most part.

I've heard about that study over the last few weeks. It doesn't surprise me that their sales are down, but those figures are shocking. Those are very large corporations to see such big drops in sales. Imagine what Walmart would do if they saw a 60% sales drop.

The corporations as a whole aren't seeing drops like that, just those specific brands within those huge corporations.
