It's gotten a good bit stricter in the last week or so. I've been working around the Bienville/Carrolton area recently. We've been required to show vax cards for lunch at Liuzza's, Katie's, Gus's Chicken and G's Pizza. Katie's wasn't checking a week ago so that's new and I'm not sure how long the others have been doing it. Most don't really look and it's just a formality. A fake card (or a picture on your phone of someone else's with a photoshop name) should be good enough for most places.

Shocking that Mandina's didn't ask for card. A week after the hurricane hit they had a security guard outside asking for vax cards. Keep in mind this was one of the few restaurants open in the city. I just laughed at this guy. Such horse shite. That's the only time I've actually ever been pissed about someone asking for a vax card. The city didn't even have power but you needed a vax card to go in and get your food.

We ate at a ton of restaurants last weekend, only place that asked for vax card was Peche, and they just glanced at it.

We were there last weekend. Saba, Clancy’s, Justine, and the Carousel Bar all checked. Don’t remember if the French 75 or Hermes bars checked.

Also tons of places are closing right now because employees are getting sick again.

You really believe that? They are closing because they are being given Biden bux to be perpetually unemployed.

You think a respected New Orleans bar or restaurant is going to close just so they don’t have to work again?

No, i think a bar or restaurant will close because the prospective EMPLOYEES won't have to work again. It's like you've not been present from 2020-present. The "supply chain" and "worker shortage" issue has nothing to do with covid, and EVERYTHING to do with incentivizing unemployment. This is your living wage in action.

The minimum wage in Louisiana is $275/week. Not the $800 or whatever it was in 2020.

Local bars and restaurants pay better than McDonald’s and are a closer knit community. The labor shortage isn’t the issue for the majority of those places, it’s either actual illness or being overly cautious. I work with this industry everyday.

And, that "security guard" is a retired NOPD narcotics officer who almost died from Covid during the first wave (hospitalized, and incubated). So yeah, nice to know who the selfish prick is in this interaction.

Having talked to many people in many industries, finding people to actually work has nothing to do with covid.

Agree to disagree, i guess.

Agreed. Lots of people left the industry for other jobs/careers during covid and just haven't returned.

Some are adjacent fields like supply companies and such.

Most stated the extra money isn't worth the schedules and bullshite.

The mandate was removed post hurricane for a couple weeks. Surprised they were even enforcing it then.
