How are breweries in Louisiana dealing with Covid? Texas is a mess

In Texas they were lumped in with bars and shut down, unless they had a restaurant permit. Then those breweries with restaurant permits were shut down if they sold cans over a certain volume. Then TABC let breweries sell cans or bottles (no taps - everyone knows taps are a covid hot spot) on their patios for 48 hours. Then they reversed course and shut that down. Such a shite show.
These state ABC agencies must be where Governors send their donor’s retarded friends and family for work.

A good amount of Texas breweries are technically "brewpubs" on their license so they've stayed open, but it's still been a shite show.
TABC is a group of corrupt cronies. No two ways about it.

Everyone has been doing to go only, a few didn't reopen when they could. I guess because there is less overhead and they were selling out either way.

Tin Roof opened their tap room until Edwards shite down bars again. Now to go only again. Cans, growlers, crowlers

Rally Cap and Gnarly were open and now they are selling to-go only.

Brewery here in Natchitoches has been lumped in with bars as have all of the others in Louisiana. They're allowed to do curbside but that's it. Such bullshite and it's killing their business when you consider the distributor is also not taking as much of their beer because of bars being shutdown as well with no need for the product.
Meanwhile brew pubs that sell food are still rocking and rolling. This virus is so smart in that it is able to distinguish between a person eating a slice of pizza and drinking a beer vs. a person just drinking a beer. Amazing.

Which ones? The only one left out of 20+ in Houston is Platypus, as they sell food and don’t sell a lot of cans.

Tin Roof has been to-go only except for the month or so that everything was open.
I really like what the online ordering system. Not waiting on growler/crowler fills is always nice. Now they just need delivery.
Speaking of delivery, Martin's Wine Cellar delivering to your door for free is dangerous (in a good way).

I feel so bad for these people.
My buddy is one of the owners of Friends & Allies, and he spent an entire day scrubbing down/sanitizing his patio with hopes they could finally sell some beer, only to be told they're no longer allowed to open.
I cannot even imagine how incredibly frustrating this must be for him.

Been working with a distillery In Texas on a work project. Their situation is a shite show.
The state is so far up their arse that I can’t believe they can operate.

Oh shite, I didn't see the TABC thing from yesterday until just now so I'm not sure.
frick TABC. So tired of their bullshite.
It's so dumb to act like people sitting on a patio drinking beer is any different from people sitting on a patio eating food. Covid doesn't care what % of your sales is alcohol. If one is okay, the other should be.

It’s absolutely retarded. And I’ve seen TABC being cited by breweries as saying “not our decision” when they have a direct hand in all of this bullshite. Would be incredibly easy for them to stick up for tap rooms. When everything was open for those great three weeks I didn’t visit one brewery that wasn’t doing things right. Pretty much every place required you to be seated to be served, staff wore masks, etc.
Instead of nuance they got lumped in with the bars and clubs that cater to mall workers

ABC boards should be abolished. Last spring in Alabama, I was cited for a law from 1973. The agent gave me an email print out of the law. I looked him dead in the eyes and said this law is older than both me and you, why don’t you guys work harder to get with current times. He said, I agree but right now it’s what I’m paid for to enforce.

I'm pretty convinced the Big Beer lobby in Texas is using this situation to destroy Texas craft beer. The brewer's guild is reporting that as many as 2/3 breweries in Texas will close permanently by the end of the year with the current shut-down policy.

I actually do wonder if the distribution lobby is helping influence the shutdown of brewpubs/breweries to the public in Texas. Make breweries more dependent upon having to negotiate with forced middle-man distribution to get their products to consumers.

Breweries in Birmingham went to go for a while. I ordered so much from Cahaba that the brewmaster wrote me a letter
They are all back open now, but limited indoor seating. A few are having movie nights and things on their lawns or beer gardens to bring folks out.
Ghost train started making hand sanitizer at one point. Most are making it work, and people are happy to support how they can.
