Turkey bores me, as a matter of fact, so do most dishes associated with Thanksgiving. Which is probably why I end up drunker than anyone else during Thanksgiving dinner.

we cannot lump oyster dressing in with this....i usually save room for 2 extra servings by passing on the turkey.

it may not be a normal thanksgiving side for most but for a family of yats, its a must

Turkey is not my main focus on Thanksgiving. My mom makes oyster patties that are incredible. Turkey, stuffing, etc. - blah. Give me a honey baked ham anyday over a turkey. Even a very well cooked and prepared turkey is not an incredible dish.

that and my granny's cornbdread dressing and cheese straws are all i care about.

the best thing about the turkey is the carcass i take home to make stock.

this is correct. my fav thing about thansgiving is not turkey on turkey day. its bone soup that my mamma makes the next week once all the leftovers are gone.

Me too, tigre...a rich turkey stock makes the best jamb or gumbo.

We always felt the same way about turkey until we started brining it before frying. Makes all the difference. Stays so juicy and has so much flavor. This year we're using apple juice, bourbon, water, salt and brown sugar to brine.

cooking a freakin turkey is sure a hell of a lot easier than using this interwebznet message board shite.

Not really.

I deep fry and find this to be my favorite way. I used to do mine in a Weber with lump, but 33 minutes versus a few hours has me converted.

Leftover turkey is better for a gumbo than chicken. There is something about the turkey carcass that's superior to chicken.

Turkey, cranberry sauce, and mayo on a good bread = heaven

Also, since we now brine our turkey, I have enjoyed them. Juicy all the way through

I'll make a ham or a leg of lamb for Christmas, but Thanksgiving is for turkey.

I fry mine because its yummy that way and its quick.
