What do you do to kick up your mashed tators a notch? I’ve added horse radish to them, but I’m not in the mood for it today. You guys got any tips to make them a little more lively? Cheese isn’t really an option either for this particular serving.
TIA

Roasted garlic kicks them up a notch or two. Herbs also would work well.

One of my go-to herbs for baked potato is sweet basil.
I'll chop green onions, sweet basil and a bit of parsley and mix it in my sour cream for baked potatoes to go with the cheese, butter and bacon bits. This also works well with mashed potatoes to dress them up a bit.

Roasted garlic, maybe a little sour cream. Taters really just need appropriate salt, black pepper and a damn good gravy.

Probably my electric chair meal. I will do a potato hash instead of regular mash potatoes from time to time. Cube potatoes with some onion and red pepper and cook down. Lawd

Don’t worry too much about potatoes. Just make sure you nail the gravy.

Speaking of green beans...anyone ever used this horseradish sauce recipe to drizzle over your green beans. We make it every time we have green beans as a side. If we’re in a hurry...we usually leave out the diced egg. Gives the green beans a great flavor.

That's looks good but I'm not a big fan of black eyed peas and I don't know why because I like all other peas. That gravy looks like it belongs over some biscuits.

70s style: dried chives. They’re surprisingly good, with a light onion flavor & make nice green specks in the taters. An obscene amount of cracked black pepper is good, too.
