To a dry hopped pilsner brewed with Louisiana rice! Loved the old southern drawl, but this sounds amazing.. and GR rarely makes a bad move!

I'm not a fan of over-hopped Pilsners, but it seems a lot of people are. I want crisp bitterness and some decent earth, not fruit.

You know who else uses that delicious rice to brew their beer? That's right, the King.

At first I was really kinda pissed, because I'm not a hop head and this was one of the few unhoppy beers GRB produces. But it still only sits at 30 IBU which is same as the currupt, plus from what I read dry hopping affects aroma more than taste...I'd prob still rather them not dry hop but I just don't think these guys can help themselves with hops.

I wasn't a fan of Southern Drawl. Found it too muted and a tad too sweet. I love crisp pilsners, however, and this will be great to have...

However, seeing as the douche-canoe that is crescent crown still distributes Great Raft, we won't be seeing this for at least 6-10 months down the road.

Their kolsch collab with Burial used rice. I thought it was great. I will try it.

This is an interesting move. I assume SD is one, if not, their biggest seller, so to mess with it would seem somewhat risky, but its commendable to always want to be improving your products.

Wonder if the average SD drinker will even be able to tell the difference?

Either way, kudos, no one should fault a business for always trying to improve a product.

Is this your first day on the F&DB? Parish gets raked over the coals here for trying to improve their beers.

I think it's more they get raked over the coals for taking a solid product and making it worse. Tinker if you want, but if it's worse, dump it. I think that would be the solution here most would advocate for, but I could be misreading things.

I was an occasional SD drinker (RC was my go to) when they subtly and quietly changed it awhile back. They changed hops for a brief time which way upped the bitterness and I sent it back at the bar I was at. Bartender explained what happened and said that had been happening alot. It was quietly and subtly changed back. I love great raft, but they have no chill with hops, I really am hoping this don't ruin SD for me... staying hopeful.

Brewed with rice, huh?

I guess they wanted to get a head start on that eventual sale to AB.

Southern Drawl always had a weird molasses flavor to me.

Commotion, on the other hand, is probably my most frequently crushed 6 pack at this point... along with Ozark APA and Lost40 APA.

I'm aware and I've always considered it a retarded criticism

I love Corrupt and like Commotion, but I never got into Southern Drawl.

I look forward to trying this new version.
