At the Kay bailey convention center. Looking for some good Texas Q nearby. Specifically looking for good brisket.
Any suggestions?

Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center and you're about a 5 minute drive from Pecan Lodge.

Pecan Lodge or Terry Black's, both in Deep Ellum about a 5 minute drive from the convention center. You could walk there but its hot and there is a soup kitchen between you and deep ellum. If those are too crowded, there is usually a line, then a great burger in Deep Ellum is at Angry Dog or Adairs.

Don't get robbed or shot. That shite has turned into New Orleans north lately.

Pecan lodge is going to be the favorite. I would suggest slow bone if you want to try somewhere a little off the beaten path. Over near the design district.

Most people are saying Black's is better.

Definitely prefer blacks to Pecan Lodge, although it’s been years since I’ve been up there.

Is Lockhart still open in Bishop Arts? Always thought they were the best.

Yes it's open, and you can always walk right in and order which is nice.

But both Pecan Lodge and Terry Black's are much better, imo

Terry Blacks opened after I moved, but if it’s as good as the one in Austin, that’s probably the best choice.

I never thought Pecan Lodge was worth the wait. It’s good bbq, but not so much better to waste an hour in line

Have eaten at Terry Black's in Austin and Pecan Lodge (about 5+ years ago). Both are outstanding.

Ended up going to Terry blacks last night. The brisket exceeded my expectations. Amazing stuff. Has some pork ribs They were well cooked but a little salty, needed to be paired with a sweet sauce to cut the saltines. Sausage link was good. Not greasy but not dry either. Decent flavor. Wished I had gotten to try the jalapeno cheese sausage but went with original. Mac and cheese, slaw, and Mexican rice as sides. Good stuff surprisingly the rice my son ordered might have been my favorite side. The brisket was the star of the show though.

Forgot to mention we were driving over on Covington from our Courtyard Marriott hotel. Passing a 7-11 and Saw a couple of bums circling each other in fight mode, one brandishing a knife the other with a mini aluminum bat. On the way home we drove back by the spot and knife bum was still hanging out in front of the store so no one must have gotten stabbed.

I won't go to Deep Ellum after lunch hours because stuff like that seems to happen daily.

You made the right choice. Terry's is much better. Pecan Lodge is overrated and possibly the worst burnt ends I've ever eaten.

I've never heard of a Covington street in Dallas. Maybe it was Commerce?

Was this near City Hall? There is a big homeless shelter there and they all congregate in that area.
