He wants to name it Pho-Q BBQ.

Can you come up with a better name?

Yea 'frick you bbq' isnt the greatest name for a business

Maybe a more traditional name like his name and bbq. The need for food trucks to have cool and catchy names is kinda odd. Let the food do the talking

I agree I don’t think vulgarity is a great idea, but I also understand wanting to have a memorable name.

Pho-kingdom idea...

What's on the menu? Is this a Kogi Korean taco type truck or more traditional KBBQ offerings? What city?

Heart & Seoul KBBQ
Seoul Brother's KBBQ
Gogi (GEAUX-GI if in BR)

I double checked. He's Asian fusion with an emphasis on Vietnamese. I thought he was Korean, because he cooked Korean BBQ in the past. He is a classically trained chef who has gravitated to Asian cuisine. He is going to emphasize Vietnamese, but will encorporate other things he chooses.

This will be a step above most food truck food. I think he gets in trouble because he doesn't have a regular menu, but cooks whatever he feels like on a particular day. Some people like that, but a lot of people get frustrated that the dish they really love is not on the menu regularly.

Would he even serve pho, or just use it in the name to try to be cute?

If the first word in the name is pho, people will expect to be able to buy pho. Some will take a pass because they don't want to stand around eating a bowl of hot soup they bought off a truck.

Seems like we've discovered the reasoning behind the name Pho-Q.

This guy sounds like one of those chefs who won't put salt and pepper on the table because you have to eat the food the way he envisions it and can leave if you don't like that. I get the whole cooking as art thing but restaurants are still a service business and people have different tastes. It's the rare place that can do things "their way or the Highway" and stay in business.

You can certainly offer seasonal dishes or specials of the day but you have to have core menu items available to build repeat business.

food truck thrives on good marketing, sounds like he is pretty trash at it considering his idea of a good name is PHO Q BBQ. He could be the greatest chef in the world...come up with something original, market it well, and the people will appreciate it.
