Going to a knife show next weekend and want some good food suggestions. Anything other than just chain restaurants in that area?

It has been many years since I’ve been here but it’s in the area and has stood the test of time.

Some others that haven’t been said

Antico- Pizza (in the battery). Portnoy gave it an 8.3
Tacos la villa- authentic street tacos
Heirloom- Korean bbq
Zekes- Haitian
Muss and turners- American (there is also a speakeasy inside called Eleanor’s)
Murphs- bar (Dale murphys restaurant) right at the galleria

Eta: canoe is one of my favorite restaurants in all of Atlanta, but def get a reservation unless you’re gonna go sit at the bar.

I actually went to rays on the River Saturday and it was ok. Used to go a lot more. Not sure it was worth the $$ tbh.

Laseters is a solid neighborhood bar with good bar food. C&S seafood is very good. Crispinas is solid Italian. C. Ellets at the battery for a good steak.

Used to work around there, but it's been a few years.

Heirloom is very good BBQ, but sometimes hard to get into.
Muss and Turner's was good.
House of Chan was a step above most Chinese places.

All of those are close to the Galleria.

One addition to the places already mentioned, Local Three is a hip little gastro pub style eatery serving New American with a good burger & other offerings.

Good to know. I went to Ray’s in the City a few months ago. It was great but pricey.

I miss that Mexican place that was near Ray in the River years ago. Name of Rio Bravo I think.

With all the crappy Tex-Mex in Atlanta I never understood why Rio Bravo went under. I liked it also.

Kinda sparse around there for very good food. Heirloom is great. Antico at the Battery is not as good as the original near GaTech (different oven). Yakitori Jinbei is fantastic ramen. Katsu curry ramen is the best there as well as the Korean fried chicken. Featured on an episode of Triple D.

Miller Union and The Optimist near Howell Mill Road are great.

Massively overrated imo. Not even the best restaurant in the shopping center.

Porch light kitchen isn't too far and is excellent.

Nevermind, just looked and they are closed.

Could hit up Rumi on roswell.

If you like Italian food, Scalini's is a family owned old school place in a strip mall on Cobb Pkwy.
Probably the best authentic Italian place I have had. Great ambiance too, and not ridiculous $$$.

It's sorta a chain, but not really...Pappasito's on Windy Hill. Owned by the folks who own Papadeaux's.

Good Mexican food. The garlic butter dipping sauce for the tortillas is amazing.

Definitely a chain but about the best of a dismal lacking of Tex-Mex in Atlanta (that I’ve found).
And don’t bring up Superica or Chuy’s. They are ok.

We love Superica and most of my family is from Texas. And FWIW, Superica exported an Atlanta tex-mex concept to Houston, which is pretty ballsy (and it's done quite well).
