Siracha is amazing on pizza but I've recently started putting hot honey on my pizza instead.

The locals call it pizza sauce and the pizza shops from Pass to Gulfport commonly offer it. It’s more of a Catalina than a French dressing. Had it for the time about 5-6 years ago and love it, especially on some CA Sarducci’s pizza!

Garden & Gun alerted me to this culinary oddity. LINK

quote:

Biloxi mayor Andrew “FoFo” Gilich remembers the befuddled reaction he got when he traveled to Los Angeles in 1980 with his family to appear on the long-running TV game show Family Feud. When the topic turned to things someone might put on a pizza, he blurted the first thing that came to his mind—in front of a national audience.

I have literally only seen/eaten pizza this way at CA Sarducci’s in Downtown Gulfport. A bite of Sarducci's Supreme Pan Crust with this dressing is one of the best bites of food I've ever tasted . It's really realllllly good.

Why does Mississippi have this thing for sweet ingredients? The MS BBQ is the same way, a lot of people rec'd Leatha's in Hattiesburg, like eating BBQ with syrup.

Sweet salad dressing on pizza, what next pineapple?

Haha same but in BSL. Times were good when the Pizza Hut had arcade games and a bottle of Catalina on all the tables

In Alabama some slather their smoked chicken in a white mayonnaise mix that has apple cider vinegar or vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, horseradish, lemon, salt, pepper, sugar, and garlic powder. Sounds absolutely disgusting but somehow it taste good on chicken. If they don’t mop it on at the end they dip the chicken in it as they pull it from the bone. The stuff taste great to me.

It's good stuff and easy to make your own version at home. You really just need mayo, vinegar, Worchestershire and pepper. Good on chicken, turkey, pork, and as a salad dressing.

Never tried French dressing on pizza, but hot honey works well.

What are some things in your life you’ve experienced like that?

I'm originally from Greene County, AL. Everyone puts mayonnaise and dill pickles on BBQ sandwiches. I don't think I've seen that anywhere else outside of the Black Belt (it's delicious by the way). I took a college roommate from Memphis to my grandparents in Eutaw. He thought we were crazy for putting mayo/pickles on a BBQ sandwich, my grandparents thought he was weird for putting cole slaw on his. They're both just may and veggies one just has more vinegar.

If you grew up eating Johnny’s Pizza then you grew up dipping your pizza in nacho cheese sauce.

I've never understood dipping pizza in salad dressing. It's usually ranch, which I hate, but none of it appeals to me. To each his own I guess.
