Is it the belief that food from a Food Truck is just always going to taste amazing and better than its restaurant counterpart. Where did this idea come from?

it seems like the food truck phase is slowing down. it was really big maybe 4-5 years ago. then it shifted to gluten free shite. we come full circle and go back to thriving breasteraunts in my opinion.

stigma

I don’t think this is the appropriate word to use.

Anyway, food trucks are assumed to be good because of the novelty. Or, they were 10 years ago, when the concept was still relatively fresh. It’s not too hard to figure out.

Prettymuch you saying it just now. I've never heard anyone talk about food trucks as inherently better food. People like them because they usually break up the routine of the same old places.

food trucks were great because they gave really innovative, up and coming chefs a way to get their stuff out there without having to shell out $$$ for a brick and mortar restaurant. Most of the good ones paid their dues in a truck and have opened brick and mortars..at least around me

I think people have in innate tendancy to automatically assume that food coming from a truck will be subpar because it is coming from a truck so when they eat it and it doesn't taste like shite, their pleasant surprise subconsciously gives it a bonus point in the taste department

fresh cooked straight off the grill and in your hand in seconds for a very affordable price all done with a pleasant attitude not requiring a tip

vs sitting on a plate under heat lamps waiting on servers for 20-30 minutes before you get it, all at often exorbitant prices where 20% tips are not just expected but demanded regardless of how shitty or non existent the service with bad attitudes was given

ya how can that ever be seen as a plus

It reads like a shitty BuzzFeed knockoff journalist starting an AskReddit thread to get an article with some hot takes.

This happens almost never. I know it does happen, but it's like 1 out of 100 times.

At my office, we are currently in food truck week where 4 - 5 food trucks park in the lot and sell food. The food isn't assumed to taste like shite, but my god its some of the best food I've ever had.

ALSO - when i'm drunk walking home from the bars, no food in the world will taste better

I think it is that plus the fact that you can try interesting/new foods for little money. You walk up and pay $8 and get something you wouldn't have risked $30 on in a restaurant.

all I know is that one of the top 5 sandwiches that I've ever consumed came from a food truck in Oslo, Norway last week. Oddly enough, the chivito is a popular dish from Uruguay.

I have had good food from food trucks
And I have had bad food from food trucks
The best food trucks have actually been trailers
Permanently anchored in place such as a bar
Where you can have a cheap date before you nail her.
