They've never had it. It's been 20+ years since I've had Spam. My dad used to cook it when mom wasn't around. He'd fry it in a skillet and make sandwiches. I thought it was awesome. I happened to see it in the store the other day and grabbed two cans. Today I sprang it on my kids, telling them it was ham. The boy was suspicious when he saw me slicing it, and said he just wanted a fried egg sandwich. I pretty much made him try it. He ended up eating two. My daughter knocked hers out with gusto. I ate some the fried Spam. It was good, but salty. Anyway, fried spam and egg sandwiches

My wife wouldn't come in the kitchen while I was cooking it. She just shook her head. I guess it's a mom thing...

It is. My wife won't even try it.

Thanks for posting this. Reminder of my childhood all the way down to the cheapest white paper plate to be found. Think I'll go pick some up tonight and make one for breakfast tomorrow. Fried Spam (in real butter), cheap hamburger bun, Duke's mayo, American cheese (store brand), and topped with a runny fried egg. Amazing.

I searched the bottom of the cabinet for those jewels. I wanted to give the kids an authentic Spam experience...

Used to have fried SPAM a lot as a kid. Always on white bread. Mom would slice it really thin and fry it up crispy.

Dang! Had I known, I would have motored over to Rayville (Only about an hour drive) and chowed down with little Braxton and Bessy Jean. Good eating!

Heck yeah. I'm a mom/wife who doesn't hate Spam...in moderation.

Pan fried beside scrambled eggs is the easy option, but my favorite way is to brown in a skillet, place on white bread and toast with cheese (preferably processed cheese food). Terrible and delicious.

I got a can recently and made some fried spam sandwiches for nostalgic purposes too. As you mentioned, it was much saltier than I remembered, but it definitely brought back some childhood memories.

Who doesn't love a can of:

Squirrels
Possums
And
Mice?

As far as canned meat goes, SPAM is damn good.

It looks gross before being cooked, but I've had it several times and enjoyed it. It's probably terrible, health-wise, but I'm sure I've eaten worse.

Paneed Spam sandwiches are the best.

All you need is breadcrumbs and an whipped up egg.

Make your kids that and I guarantee theyll love it.

I was raised in a house that made fun of spam for being gross. I didn’t eat it for the first time until I was almost 35 because I wanted to try it with ramen. My life was changed that day.

The regular spam is good but the jalapeño and the hickory smoked varieties are off the chain.

Off da chain.

I usually use hurricane prep as an excuse to buy a can, but really, I just like it.

Fingers crossed this year I won’t be buying any.

I remember staying a few weeks with my grandparents in the summers growing up. When my grandad retired and my grandmother was still working, he was in charge of 4 of us for the day...I have never in my life eaten more fried Spam and fried bologna than I did in those few weeks
It was awesome, and I'd go back in a heartbeat

I am on a low carb kick at the moment but I ate tons of ramen. It is one of the reasons my weight got a little out of control. As soon as I get a few more pounds off, I will make a few bowls and post them.
