FBD was a sample from the starter. Mix of White Labs Saison III and some dregs from an Anchorage Brett IPA.

I'm doing the same this weekend. Going to make a 1 or 1.5 gallon "super starter" with the dregs from a Jester Kine El Cedro. If it taste good, I'll bottle a portion of it and then toss the rest into a 5 gallon saison.

I was just looking back at my post history and found some of the first FBD threads I posted in. They were only 2 or 3 pages back then. Now we are up to 11...... On a Monday!

IDK why but I was never blown away by anything from OB, although I thoroughly enjoyed Dale's Pale Ale and it was pretty much my go to middle of the week beer for quite some time.

I will be going to the baseball game, but could maybe have a beer at Pelican House before that. Depends on how early I can get out of the office.

I'll probably stop by somewhere on the way home, haven't don't the Pelican House so maybe. I'll look into it while at work and she what's happening in the FBD thread tomorrow.

There were many nights back then when the "whats for dinner" folks would out post us My only complaint is that we seem to flame out on the weekends. At noon it looks like we are headed for 20 pages and then by 9:00 pm it slows to a trickle of posts.

it's pretty funny how things have evolved. granted there is a good bit more back and forth w/ posts which i enjoy instead of "listing" the beers that are being drunk.

i get you. i'm a big OB fan but i'm not a great divide fan (which most people love). you enjoy what you enjoy. nothing wrong with that at all.

?BD - Finished off the Cali-Belg, finishing off the Cascara Quad. This would go well with like a cheesecake. Just saying.

I'm thinking I'll either be there Wednesday or Thursday night. Most likely Thursday as I have half day Fridays and that would be an easy day to go to work hungover.

I plan on being there Thursday, but could end up there earlier. Maybe after the square on wed.

2BD- Karbach Rodeo Clown DIPA

I'm hoping this is an old batch, because it's terrible. Almost no hop flavor, just a malty, syrupy mess. I couldn't find the date on the can so I risked it and bought a 4 pack because I've been wanting to try this, but I doubt I drink the rest.

Will try again next time I go to Texas.

My starter was tasting pretty good. Hard on the nose still, but the saison spice and brett fruitiness were both very present. I emailed the guy at Anchorage and he said it was a lambicus strain, so I'm expecting some mild sourness once it's all said and done as I aerated the ever living shite out of it.

Edit :I just realized that gif might have been used wrong. To clarify, I meant "You and me think alike."

I appreciated the two that you didn't like. They were awesome. I love the signature maltiness of a Great Divide beer.

Well we used it as "getting shitfaced" beer, not really drinking beer. I'm not writing it off or bashing the brewery, just stating a preference. Preferences can change, might just be due to having easy access all the time too.
