Buncha Nova Scotians, I swear.

Mac and cheese and creamed potatoes with gravy.

More of a soul food than southern but, fried corn is good for me.

Also, any okra dish; stewed okra and tomatoes, fried okra, okra stew, grilled okra...

No mustard greens yet?

Honestly, I don’t have a preference between collard, mustard, or turnip greens if they’re cooked right.

my grandma used to thinly slice onion, tomato and cucumber and mix it with oil and vinegar and lots of pepper. it was delicious.

Reminds me of summer growing up. Now that it's tomato/cucumber time in the garden, we eat this a couple of times a week. Also add in some herbs from the garden as well

It's hard to beat field peas though

With corn bread

Yes, but I like purple hulls better.

Purple hulls, butterbeans, cornbread, and a sliced tomato. I probably don't even need a main dish.

I love nearly all "southern foods" except for collards and turnip greens. My grandmother could throw down anything in the kitchen and no one has ever said a bad thing about her cooking, but I've never been a fan of any collard/turnip recipe. Just not my thing.

I'm with you! Everyone in my family wanted a big plate of turnip greens with cornbread. About half put that pepper vinegar sauce on it. They would make a meal of it. Nope, I just can't.

if mac in cheese is considered southern then that, but i dont, its too universal.

so

greens (preferably combo of collard and others) with smoked ham hock.

honorable mentions to corn bread and dirty rice
