We are good family friends with them. From what I understand he had partial stake in Boscoli but was never the majority owner. Glad to hear that Drexel is still doing a good job with the restaurant, it's been a while since I've been.

They have weird hours sometimes because they live off of Tulane students, but I highly recommend it. Plus they deliver if you live in the area. The maple feast is solid, and I've never had a less than stellar fried shrimp.

This is correct. The original owners have not owed Sandro's since the late 2000's. While I was not incorrect I will acknowledge the misunderstanding.
Cheers

Kubi's. Do not go here. Buddies and I went there once and asked for a bucket of Miller lite. The bartender literally started pouring Miller lights into a bucket!

Lol. Sounds like something too ridiculous to be true. But I don't think anyone would make something like this up.

Liuzza's

Really cannot go wrong with this one. I have never found another restaurant anywhere which compares favorably with Liuzza's in deliciousness, portions, and price.

As far as other "hole in the walls":
Pyramids Cafe
Bud's Broiler (not ashamed)
Checkpoint Charlie's

My other favorite hole in the wall, Nino's, unfortunately shut its doors

It's in metairie/kenner off of veterans. I think it is in that same strip mall/ shopping center as a tj maxx.

Killer Poboys my go to when downtown.

Avenue Pub is up there although the menu is lacking compared to years past.

It's not there any longer but when I was in New Orleans in January of '08 for the BCS NG, there was this little, aluminum building right across the street from the Ramada on Bourbon St that made some of the best pizza I've ever had.

It was really small. There was one person inside it and you walked up to a sliding window and ordered.

Man, it was so good. I wish it was still there. I've looked since then and it's not there.

The closest pizza I've found to it is that Mango Mango place on Bourbon but it's really expensive. This was a little nothing place, the pizza was cheap but it was damn good.

I second this. Those poboys are surprisingly and ridiculously good for such a random New Orleans spot.
