4. Pizza Hut
Sarah Moore/Chowhound
We weren't really sure what to expect when ranking Pizza Huts from styles worst to best because it's a pizza chain we didn't know that much about beforehand. As it turns out, there was a reason for this because Pizza Hut is just kind of meh. This statement should be taken with a grain of salt, though, because no pizza from Pizza Hut was really that offensive to us, and the original pan crust was actually a pretty exceptional experience.
Why did we like the pan crust so much? Hard to say. However, I can tell you that we tried it last out of six crust styles, at which point we were absolutely bursting and had no desire to see another pizza ever again. Thus, the fact that we still ranked the pan crust first definitely says something. It was just that good: chewy, airy, and perfect for dipping. The hand-tossed crust was pretty good as well, and it surprised me with its nice flavor and texture, given that I've spent most of my life avoiding pizza crusts just like this one. If you're going to order from Pizza Hut, either of these options will do the trick.
In general, though, Pizza Hut was the chain with the least amount of flavor and creativity. It's perfect for a kids' birthday party, but honestly, if you're just trying to feed yourself on a busy weeknight, you may as well go the frozen pizza route. It's cheaper.

It's a butter crust, that's what makes it so good.
I like Hungry Howies, and I always get the butter crust.
The problem with Pizza Hut is the pepperoni's are always too done/crispy.
Not sure how Little Ceasers is better. Papa Johns was great back before it became a national chain. Domino's should be in last place. Terrible list.

Pizza Hut went downhill the day they made the decision to switch from fresh dough to frozen dough disks. Just another corporate giant who sacrificed quality for the almighty dollar.

This is almost hard to believe.
I know she said her family are "die-hard Domino's fans", but I think it would be difficult to navigate childhood and college without some Pizza Hut experiences.

We went often, but that was in the 80s when they had decent eat-in spots and buffets. It's not the same, but back then it was awesome. So if this person is a bit younger, not hard to believe. My kids have never eaten Pizza Hut that I can recall.

For years our family was loyal Pizza Hut pizza eaters. However, Pizza Hut took a nose dive during Covid in my community. For the past year we have ordered primarily Papa John's.

My kids like their stuffed crust. The closest Hut to us caught on fire and is closed. The next closest one (roughly 4 miles away) won't deliver to us. They say the one closest to us is the one we need to call. I told him it caught on fire. He basically told me tough shite. They can kiss my arse.

They had a good salad bar with excellent salad dressings. The original Italian was the best. They later changed it to a creamier dressing that was good, but not as good as the original. Their French was good as well. They bottled and sold their dressings for a while.

Pizza Hut and dominoes are disgusting. I’d much rather the gas station pizza hunts brothers

It's OK, but it used to be A LOT better.

Wrong
Pepperoni is best crisp and on top of the cheese.

Nah, one of the few things in the world that gives me heartburn.
The pan crust is my favorite crust though, always has been.

any good? looks like Detroit style pizza

It's a very solid Detroit style. If you like a good pan crust, you'll likely love it.

Apparently we do. I've never heard of it, but I just looked and there is one within 10 miles of me.
Looks good on the online menu pictures. I'm assuming you are mentioning it because it's good? If so, I'll have to check it out.
Edit: I see your above post now, I'll have to check it out.

Papa John’s well done is a game changer.

I get the thin crust well done. Even better cut into small squares instead of traditional cut. It’s like cracker style bar pizza.

I would definitely check it out. I think it's a better chain than most if not all mentioned in this thread
