The double Filet o’ Fish is amazing

The Walleye is seasonal at Culvers. Usually around Lent, but I think they serve it for a while after Lent.
Their tartar sauce is excellent, but they don't put much on their sandwiches. Order extra if you like tartar.
All of this for sure. The cod is pretty good, but the walleye is dynamite. Hands-down my favorite fast food fish sandwich. And yes, it’s very limited in it’s offering. I called the one here in Greenville where I’m working a couple of weeks ago and asked if they had it yet and they told me no it’s only for Lent. I was there on Ash Wednesday and then again last Friday and will be back again in two days.
You could be right though. Maybe it goes a little bit after Lent. I’m just going by what they told me.
Runner up to me is definitely the double filet o’ fish at McD’s. I saw that mentioned as well and it’s pretty darn good.

I feel completely played and lied to. I went to Culver's last night and got the walleye due to this thread, not good. Small piece of fishy fish swallowed by the bun. I wish I had gotten a burger. Sad.

pacific flounder is like $5/lb. What’s a sandwich filet, 1/4 lb? Factor in buying power of these big chains and there’s how they afford it
Also, the sandwiches can be similar to loss leaders but really no margin, to sell drinks and sides with the largest markups.

I think you can get double patties on the McFish, but I'm not sure if I'm that bold.
Ask for the Grand Mariner.

Hard to believe this. I’ve had many walleye sandwiches from Culver’s and the fish size has always been plenty big enough. Furthermore, it doesn’t come on a bun.

I had one at a Culvers in Littleton, Colorado last night and it sucked. I even suggested other people order it based on this thread, thankfully they did not heed my advice.
If that is not a bun in the pc below then what is it?

If you're ever around Opelousas, Mama's Fried Chicken makes an excellent Fried Catfish Sandwich. Their fried shrimp is also very good.

hoagie roll, if we are being technical.

I had one from Chicken Shack on Acadian as well. I enjoyed it for what it was, but the main taste was the batter, and I don't think the fish was very high quality.

Tried a fried flounder sandwich from Freddy's last night. I thought it was pretty good. I still think Culver's is better and for the value, Arby's Crispy Fish 2-fer is hard to beat.

i just had a Culver's walleye sandwich today for lunch and it was large piece of real fish on a hoagie roll, Service was fast and courteous . The batter was fine, kind of like Long John Silvers and the fish flaky and tender, No overpowering fish flavor, .. However not much flavor to the sandwich or the tartar sauce on it,, On a 1-10 probably 6.5,, definately not a fresh Mahi Mahi sandwich though,, Spoiled in Ft Lauderdale and the Keys!!!

I know it’s not high quality but a Filet o’ Fish is a guilty pleasure for me, and I can’t explain why.

I get the double McFish from Mc'D. I like BK better but none near me.
Catfish poboy from Poboy Express might be 4.5/5. I don't go much anymore bc it's high $$$. I get the small. The Lg is $20++

That pretty much sums up McDs overall.

the tartar sauce is the best part of the Filet O' Fish, imo.

Do they still make these? It was an off-the-menu item back in the 80’s. Was on a toasted Big Mac bun with two filets, lettuce, cheese and tarter sauce

I went to a McD a couple years back and asked for one based on the recs of this board - they had zero clue what I was talking about
