Went there today. Got “Crawfish Etouffe” and cup of “Gumbo” for my meal. Etouffe was soupy, with surprisingly scarce tiny crawfish sprinkled in it, along with not much rice. Flavor ok but not remarkable. Gumbo flavor was salty, only chicken and sausage; lots of pepper. No french bread served with this disappointingly insubstantial fare. When I requested French bread, it seemed like a canned response, “sorry, we don’t serve that, but we have something like Texas toast” Server was faux shocked when I grinned and said no thanks. But surprising for a supposedly Louisiana based menu to not offer French bread with etouffee or gumbo. Blank look back by server.

My wife got a Zydeco Fried Shrimp salad. Nice looking fried shrimp atop mixed greens out of a bag, with what my wife said tasted like that old bottled Russian dressing.

Count a $5 tip and this sad late lunch cost $50.51.

Will never recommend this place to anyone.

It’s 700 degrees outside. The hell are you doing ordering etoufee and gumbo?

That is what you get for ordering local Louisiana dishes in Arlington Texas.

Baw, you gotta do your research before eating and ordering menu items at WO franchises in other States. Just because it’s a “Cajun - South LA” dish doesn’t mean you’re gonna get original SWLA quality. Arlington ain’t Abbeville.

Being NOLA born and raised, I know this full well. Living away from my home cuisine, one prospects for something resembling the familiar. Pappadeaux’s gets it. Walk On’s is but a dim reflection.

Why do you order etouffe in Arlington, tx? At least go find some mediocre barbecue.

Try sick of barbecue and tacos and wanted my home favorite tastes bad enough to risk WO’s version. Poor imitation, even by TX standards.

I live in Dallas and have tried the so called Cajun food here and even the best is pretty poor. I just cook my own.

Pappadeaux’s is overpriced bad imitation of Cajun food. They serve etouffee on top of fricking dirty rice.

Mostly we do too. But we do more of a New Orleans old school style. The unwashed do not grasp the subtleties, and just think pan blacken it, throw hot sauce in it - make some kind of roux - that’s all it takes.

It's not a Cajun restaurant, it's a Sports Bar. You need to temper your expectations and get a burger.

Not trying to defend them at all, but that would be two of the last items I would order from there.

Some non-Louisiana coworkers here raved about Walk-On's, so I gave in and went for lunch one day. The boudin balls and blackened gator were both better than expected. I would never mess with a gumbo made in a chain restaurant in TN though.

Ultimately they served it so it’s on them, but only a moron would have ordered what you did. And you should read the menu and see if it says “served with French bread” or asked before you ordered.

For your wife’s salad, mixed greens out of a bag …? Where are they supposed to get these ? A garden out back?
