“People only make pastalaya because they can’t cook rice”
That’s the biggest old man thing I’ve ever heard.
Rice ain’t hard to cook… idk why people on here act like it’s some kind of soufflé.
I can cook both. But I honestly prefer the pasta over rice. It soaks up the flavor and gives a better bite.
Now let’s go back to yelling at clouds

Rice isn't great IMO. I'd say the best pastalaya beats out the best jambalaya anyway.

Last night we had a friend make pastalaya with egg ribbon noodles. Best pastalaya of my life.

I prefer jamabalaya, but I will make pastalaya every now and then just to mix it up

Who really cares what other people think, if it tastes good to you, then make it!

I agree, don’t care what anyone else says about my thoughts on that.

Neither one is some culinary masterpiece. They are just good economical meals that feed lots of folks, and are fun to construct whilst pounding suds.

My biggest problem with pastalaya is it seemingly became the go-to for every party/tailgate I went to for like 10 years

Just got burned out on it

Same here. Every body that had a party was cooking a pastalaya. I use to love it, but now I can only eat it A couple times a year. I like Jambalaya with something fried and some white beans. It’s not as heavy as a pastalaya

Anyone who is against pastalaya is crazy. It’s 2 different dishes. Why would you bash it?

I cook both and I like both equally.

I work with a dude who straight up refuses to eat it even if free. Boss cooked a big pot of it for lunch earlier this year and he wouldn't touch it. We had to listen to him whine about being hungry the rest of the day.

I prefer Jambalaya but I am not judging someone if they use pasta in their cook, what do I care? It's better than using the wrong rice.

I prefer pasta in pasta dishes, a home made alfredo or red gravy over properly cooked high quality pasta is divine, but I am not turning my nose at good flavored pastalaya

I want to add that I learned how to cook jambalaya properly from this board, it comes out perfect every time and people think I am using some sort of hoodoo to make it. I have only gone up to 5 gallons but I am considering getting a bigger pot.

Thanks TD food board and the best RAT ever.

If you dislike pastalaya, then you have mental problems. It’s one thing not to like something, it’s another to despise other people liking it.

Don’t really want either.

I’ve had good jambalaya, but it’s usually a mushy mess.

Mushy means Too much grease, and probably poor liquid management.
