It’s been a really long time since I’ve been but I remember the marinated salad that you get with an entree is amazing
I thought I had shrimp but it’s no longer on the menu

It's not bad by any stretch, but it's not great by any stretch. Doe's is where I go when I'm really hungry and just want a lot of pretty good steak. It's not where I go when I want a REALLY good steak. The sides are almost afterthoughts for me at Doe's because I go to eat steak, not the food the steak eats. I hear their tamales are pretty good, but I've never had them. The atmosphere and ambiance is "house turned into restaurant". Don't bother wearing your evening jacket.

The best way I can sum it up is that Ron Swanson would freaking love Doe's.

If you go there expecting Ruth's, Doris Metropolitan, or Puter Luger level of steak and service, you're going to be disappointed.

It's a very casual atmosphere, very laid back. Great steaks and tamale's. Best chicken fried steak in the city. Not my favorite steak in town but the wife and I get the bone in Rib Eye, split it and eat for a week. I'd say top 4 in the city but I go there more than any of the others.

It's where you go when you want a 32oz steak. Otherwise there are better options.

I've been to the one in Paducah, Kentucky. The steaks are fabulous. If the tamales did not come from a can then someone is wasting his time.

All about the cut. Iverstines or Tramontes carry restaurant quality steaks.

Yep. This is why I don’t get people claiming it’s above average. What the hell is your average if that’s above it? Nothing was inedible, but I could have used the $130 I spent there on a much better meal elsewhere or at home.

Isn’t the whole point of going out for steak is that restaurants have better equipment/cuts/searing methods?

The one in Little Rock is pretty good, both steaks and tamales. Lot of atmosphere there being close to the Capitol with history from the Clinton era. Extremely casual

We talking about the original or the others?

I’ve eaten at two of the others and there’s definitely a difference.

The original has an awesome porterhouse, the fries are good, and my wife loves the salad. I can name 6 or 7 better tamales in the delta.

Fun place to go a couple times a year, and I’ve never been disappointed by the steak.

I found the one in BR to be pretty meh, but the Monroe location is legit.

I go every now and again for lunch. Thy serve my favorite burger in town. I like the steaks and enjoy the atmosphere.

To the poster commenting that their $130 would go further at home, I think that is a bit unfair when judging a restaurant. They do have overhead and well, they need to pay people to prepare the food and serve you.
