Porterhouse

Our Signature Steak. Cut from the middle portion of the loin, this steak contains a “T” shaped bone separating the larger strip side from the succulent filet side. The strip & filet may be cooked to different temperatures on the 2½ pound cuts and larger.

$26.00 per pound (Available in 2 & 2½ pound cuts)

So can you order a 1 lb cut or does that mean you have to get it in a 2 lb cut?

Well I said elsewhere OR at home. Meaning $130 could get me a decent chunk paid for at a place with much much better steaks. I mentioned home because I always assumed the only reason anyone goes out for steak is to get one they can’t make at home due to not having access to such good restaurant equipments and cuts. What Does served me was not that.

People get so testy about their precious Does around here too. I went because I had never tried it and was really wanting to. Had every expectation that I’d love it. But nothing was anything more than just okay. Why that’s taboo to post is beyond me.

It's not bad by any stretch, but it's not great by any stretch. Doe's is where I go when I'm really hungry and just want a lot of pretty good steak. It's not where I go when I want a REALLY good steak. The sides are almost afterthoughts for me at Doe's because I go to eat steak, not the food the steak eats. I hear their tamales are pretty good, but I've never had them. The atmosphere and ambiance is "house turned into restaurant". Don't bother wearing your evening jacket.

The best way I can sum it up is that Ron Swanson would freaking love Doe's.

This is pretty accurate.

It's also one of the best deals in town for restaurant week.

I went for lunch not too long ago and someone at another table ordered the chicken fried steak and it looked amazing. I want to go back just to try that.

The one in Lafayette lasted all of three months. That should tell you something.

It tells me that they had an issue with location or management or funding, because Doe's locations are doing well everywhere else.

Original Doe's Eat Place is in Greenville. Tamales are big in the delta. Not a natural pairing but this is the reason why.

They should have just kept it to the original and not expanded.

I eat at the Monroe one about once a month. When I don't have other mouths to feed and some free time, it's nice to spend 50 bucks on huge steak and a stout Old Fashioned.

40 bucks for the 20 oz Ribeye, and 8 for the Old Fashioned.

The Monroe, La location is very nice - love getting the chance to eat there.

Everything is well run in Monroe:

Bar is on point
Service is friendly and timely
Menu - everyone can find something
Food - quality is high
Atmosphere - never rushed and nice building

I really enjoy the place. There are times when we me and Mrs. KTG go and have a couple of drinks, eat some shrimp, tamales and salad.

PRO TIP - I enjoy the pick up service - If I have to work in New Orleans or Dallas, I’ll pick up a to go order of steaks and sides so the family loves me when I get home.

No, they do not serve a 1lb porterhouse. AFAIK, the only steak they serve less than 2lb would be their filets.

You can get a 20 oz Ribeye - That's less than 2 lbs.

Ribeye
A Baton Rouge favorite, this bone-in cowboy cut ribeye is sure to please. The ribeye can be cooked to any single temperature.

$26.00 per pound (Available in 2 and 2½ pound cuts)

Not according to the Baton Rouge location's website menu (and I assumed that's the location we were discussing). Now, I don't know about daily specials or other locations.
