On the Monroe menu, you can get a 20 oz. ribeye and a 24 oz T-Bone.

Both are under 40 bucks.

I love the one in Monroe. You can get the 2lb bone in ribeye, two salads, and two sides for $47. For a delicious meal that’s hard to beat.

I go every now and again for lunch. Thy serve my favorite burger in town. I like the steaks and enjoy the atmosphere.

I always heard they had good burgers, and was a little disappointed the one time I tried it. The bun seemed like something you pick up off the shelf at Albertson's. I was hoping for something a little better.

I've heard good things about the chicken fried steak, I just wish they had it on the dinner menu as its not a convenient location for me to make it during lunch.

As others have said, it's not the best steak in town, but I've always enjoyed my meal when I eat there. Normally go twice a year for restaurant week, because it's a great deal.

You can definitely get a good steak there. My only problem is the steaks are just too big, and it's not very appetizing after a while. The steak comes out hot and delicious, but by the time you make a dent in it, it starts to get cold.

It works if you can split a steak with someone, and if you want something casual, but it's a gimmick I can do without personally.

That said, I went with a group of friends about 6 months ago and our meal was very good. The over the top hate is clownish.

All about the cut. Iverstines or Tramontes carry restaurant quality steaks.

Eh...I don't agree. While I love most of their products, I tend to stay away from their steaks. This mostly due to not liking how their steaks are cut, and also grass raised/grass finished beef is very mineraly in flavor. I much prefer the grain finished prime steaks from Rouses.

To be fair, the thread has a few calling it mediocre, not a great value, etc. But I don't see anyone calling it an inedible pile of trash. I don't get the weird defensiveness about Doe's on TD, and it has been that way for years.

I thought about doing an actual writeup a while back, but the whole visit was just meh and that's what the description of each item would have looked like.. so I figured why waste the time?

It is something closer to liquid smoke or Kitchen Bouquet. It is very dark brown, but doesn't have that salty/savory taste you get from meat juices and butter at other places or at home.

The sauce is the drippings from the steaks mixed with margarine people. It's not rocket science.

I haven't used margarine in years and have never used it on a steak so maybe you're right but it's not good on it.

Why not just use actual butter?

The texture and taste of that sauce is like some fake shite you would get at a cheap buffetserving bad steaks.

The thread is 3 pages, has lasted 3 days from bumps, and I made 3 posts. Never once called it gross or inedible.

How is that considered dedicating time to convincing people that something is bad?

I'll say it and take the heat. Doe's steaks are decent at best and overpriced for their quality.

I have had Porterhouses that were pretty gristly and others that were awesome. Always box up the bone for my pup when I get home.
